Synopsis

Flipkart has announced expanded investments across Uttar Pradesh to strengthen logistics infrastructure, support micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), promote agriculture-linked initiatives and improve market access for local businesses. Since entering the state in 2020, the e-commerce company has developed a network comprising fulfilment centres, grocery facilities and last-mile delivery hubs, creating direct and indirect employment opportunities. The company said more than 85,000 sellers from Uttar Pradesh are now active on its marketplace, while dedicated programmes for farmers, artisans, women entrepreneurs and small businesses continue to expand. The investments form part of Flipkart's broader strategy to enhance digital commerce, supply chain efficiency and inclusive economic growth across the state.

Flipkart has expanded its investments across Uttar Pradesh by strengthening its logistics network, supporting micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), promoting agricultural value chains and enhancing market access for local businesses. Since establishing operations in the state in 2020, the company said it has continued to invest in infrastructure and digital commerce initiatives aimed at creating employment and improving supply chain efficiency.
The company stated that its network in Uttar Pradesh currently includes a 2.4 million sq ft logistics infrastructure spread across fulfilment centres, grocery fulfilment facilities and sorting centres. The facilities are supported by more than 220 grocery, kirana and last-mile delivery hubs, enabling deliveries across the state while strengthening access to national markets for sellers and producers.
According to Flipkart, the logistics network has generated direct employment for more than 8,500 people and created indirect livelihood opportunities in logistics, warehousing, digital commerce and related sectors. The company said the infrastructure also supports quicker deliveries during major shopping events, including its Big Billion Days sale.
The retailer noted that its marketplace now hosts more than 85,000 sellers from Uttar Pradesh. Since entering the state, Flipkart has expanded market access for products including Banarasi silk, Lucknow chikankari, Moradabad brassware, carpets, wooden handicrafts and leather goods, connecting local producers with customers across India.
Flipkart highlighted the growth of its Shopsy platform, stating that sellers from Uttar Pradesh recorded a year-on-year increase of more than 90 per cent, reflecting higher adoption of digital commerce among artisans, MSMEs and local entrepreneurs.
Beyond e-commerce, the company said it has strengthened farmer-focused initiatives through the Flipkart Foundation. Through its collaboration with the Watershed Organisation Trust (WOTR), more than 8,000 smallholder farmers across 27 districts and over 100 Farmer Producer Organisations have been supported, benefiting more than 75 per cent of participating women. The company also reported sourcing more than 300,000 kg of produce from Uttar Pradesh-based Farmer Producer Organisations, helping strengthen farm-to-market linkages.
Flipkart said its wider livelihood programmes have benefited more than 26,000 individuals across the state through initiatives supporting nutrition, digital literacy, women's entrepreneurship, youth skill development and micro-enterprise creation.
The company added that it is encouraging sustainability through programmes involving electric vehicles, rooftop solar installations, circular economy practices and responsible waste management. It also noted that businesses within the Flipkart Group, including fashion platform Myntra and travel platform Cleartrip, are expanding their presence in Uttar Pradesh. According to the company, these investments are intended to improve market access for small businesses, artisans and farmers while contributing to the state's digital commerce ecosystem.
