Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy said the state government is positioning the proposed Bharat Future City as a global investment destination with a focus on attracting Fortune 500 companies. Speaking to industry representatives, he highlighted the scale of the project, planned investments in data centres, and the state's long-term economic goals. The government also outlined its regional development strategy by allocating separate zones for services, manufacturing and agriculture, while assuring investors that Telangana's industrial policies remain stable despite political changes.
Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy said the state government is working to attract Fortune 500 companies to the proposed Bharat Future City, a large integrated urban development planned on the outskirts of Hyderabad. During an interaction with representatives of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Northern Region, he described Telangana as a safe and business-friendly investment destination and invited companies to expand their presence in the state.
The chief minister said the state had recently organised the Telangana Rising Global Summit 2025 at the Future City site, which was attended by representatives from 175 countries, according to an official release. He said the event reflected Telangana's efforts to position itself as a preferred destination for global investments.
Highlighting the scale of the proposed development, Reddy said Gujarat's GIFT City has been developed on around 700 acres, while Bharat Future City is being planned across nearly 30,000 acres. The project is expected to become one of the state's flagship urban and economic development initiatives, aimed at attracting investments across technology, manufacturing and allied sectors.
He also shared details of major investments proposed in the state. According to the chief minister, Amazon plans to invest INR 1 lakh crore in data centre infrastructure in Hyderabad, while the Adani Group is setting up a data centre project with an investment of INR 30,000 crore. Hyderabad has emerged as one of India's fastest-growing data centre markets over the past few years, supported by increasing demand for cloud services, digital infrastructure and artificial intelligence-driven technologies.
Reddy said the state government has set a target of increasing Telangana's contribution to India's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) from the current 5 per cent to 10 per cent over the coming years. He added that the government wants Telangana to benefit from the global "China Plus One" strategy, under which companies are diversifying their manufacturing and supply chains beyond China. He said the state's objective is to establish Telangana as a preferred destination under this global manufacturing shift.
The chief minister clarified that Telangana was not seeking to compete with neighbouring states for investments but was focused on creating an ecosystem that supports long-term industrial and economic growth.
Explaining the state's development strategy, Reddy said the government is promoting the services sector within the Core Urban Region (CURE), located inside Hyderabad's Outer Ring Road (ORR). Manufacturing industries are planned to be developed in the Peri Urban Region (PURE), which lies between the ORR and the proposed Regional Ring Road (RRR). Areas beyond the ORR will continue to focus on agriculture and agri-based industries to ensure balanced regional development.
He also assured investors that Telangana's industrial policies have remained consistent despite changes in government. Referring to Hyderabad's growth over the past three decades, Reddy said investments attracted during the undivided Andhra Pradesh government between 1994 and 2004 laid an important foundation for the city's development. He added that major infrastructure such as the international airport, Outer Ring Road, along with the expansion of the pharmaceutical and information technology sectors, took shape during the Congress government between 2004 and 2014.
The chief minister further said that after assuming office in December 2023, the present Congress government continued several industrial policies introduced by the previous BRS government while also introducing new initiatives to strengthen the state's investment ecosystem. Reiterating the government's commitment to ease of doing business, he assured industrialists of full support and invited them to invest in Telangana.
