The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has conducted searches at multiple premises linked to the Imperia Group in Delhi-NCR as part of an ongoing money laundering investigation into an alleged homebuyers' fraud. During the operation, the agency seized cash worth INR 50.50 lakh, three luxury vehicles and various documents and digital records. The probe centres on allegations that funds collected from homebuyers for residential projects were diverted, resulting in delays and financial losses for buyers across several housing developments.
The Enforcement Directorate has intensified its investigation into the alleged homebuyers' fraud involving the Imperia Group by carrying out search operations at multiple residential and commercial premises across Delhi-NCR. The searches were conducted under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) as part of an ongoing probe into the alleged diversion of funds collected from homebuyers.
According to the agency, searches covered premises associated with Imperia Wishfield, Imperia Structures, their promoter-directors and a resolution professional. During the operation, officials recovered and seized cash amounting to INR 50.50 lakh, three luxury vehicles, digital devices, financial records and other documents that are expected to assist the ongoing investigation.
The money laundering investigation stems from allegations that funds received from homebuyers for various residential projects were diverted instead of being utilised for construction and project completion. The alleged diversion of project finances is believed to have resulted in prolonged delays, leaving numerous homebuyers waiting for possession of their properties.
Investigators are examining financial transactions, company records and fund flows to determine the extent of the alleged irregularities and identify the movement of proceeds of crime. The seized digital evidence and financial documents are expected to play a key role in tracing transactions linked to the case.
The Imperia Group has been associated with several residential developments in the National Capital Region, and disputes involving delayed possession and alleged non-delivery of housing units have led to legal proceedings by homebuyers over the years. The present investigation forms part of the ED's examination of suspected financial misconduct linked to these projects.
The Enforcement Directorate has indicated that the investigation remains underway and that further scrutiny of financial records and assets will continue. Based on the evidence gathered during the searches, the agency is expected to examine the role of individuals and entities connected with the alleged diversion of homebuyers' funds while pursuing action under the provisions of the PMLA.
