Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma has invited UAE companies to explore investment opportunities in the state, particularly in energy and hospitality, while highlighting Rajasthan's tourism potential, heritage and investment-friendly environment.
Addressing the UAE-Rajasthan Tourism and Investment Round Table in Jaipur, Sharma said the state offered opportunities across sectors supported by its forts, palaces, havelis, deserts, wildlife sanctuaries, gems and jewellery, handicrafts, textiles and mineral resources. He said the state government would provide support to investors and had introduced policies, including the Rajasthan Aerospace and Defence Policy, to create a favourable industrial environment.
Sharma also said Rajasthan was moving towards greater self-reliance in the energy sector. On heritage conservation, he said 662 historic havelis in the Shekhawati region had been identified for conservation in line with the vision of balancing development with heritage preservation.
The chief minister also highlighted the growing economic relationship between India and the UAE. He said bilateral trade had remained above USD 100 billion annually over the past two years, while around 4.5 million Indians living in the UAE continued to strengthen people-to-people and economic ties between the two countries. He added that a sizeable number of people from Rajasthan were part of the Indian diaspora in the UAE.
UAE Minister of Economy and Tourism Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri said the relationship between the leadership of India and the UAE had strengthened considerably. He also referred to the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), which has helped deepen economic ties between the two countries.
Al Marri said UAE companies were interested in investing in Rajasthan's hospitality sector, noting the importance of hospitality to both Rajasthan and the UAE. He also expressed interest in improving air connectivity between Jaipur and Dubai.
The UAE minister said the tourism and investment round table would help strengthen the partnership between the UAE and Rajasthan and invited Sharma to visit Dubai.
The meeting was attended by senior state officials and representatives from the hospitality sector, including Rajasthan Chief Secretary V Srinivas and Tourism Secretary Suchi Tyagi.
