Synopsis

The Centre will release a second tranche of INR 275.52 crore to Gujarat and Sikkim under the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (PM-RKVY) and Krishonnati Yojana. Gujarat will receive INR 224.94 crore, while Sikkim will get INR 50.58 crore. The funds are intended to support agricultural productivity, modern farming practices, farm infrastructure and measures aimed at improving farmers’ incomes. The decision followed a review of the implementation of the two schemes with the agriculture ministers of both states. The Centre has also asked the states to complete approved projects within the stipulated timelines and assess their outcomes.

The Centre will release a second tranche of INR 224.94 crore for Gujarat and INR 50.58 crore for Sikkim under the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (PM-RKVY) and Krishonnati Yojana, Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said.
The decision was taken after a virtual review of the progress of the two schemes with the agriculture ministers of Gujarat and Sikkim.
Of the amount allocated to Gujarat, INR 181.62 crore will be released under PM-RKVY and INR 43.32 crore under the Krishonnati Yojana. Sikkim will receive INR 47.37 crore under PM-RKVY and INR 3.21 crore under the Krishonnati Yojana. The combined allocation for both states is INR 275.52 crore.
The funds will be used to support measures aimed at increasing farmers’ incomes, improving agricultural productivity, promoting modern farming techniques and strengthening agricultural infrastructure.
Chouhan asked the two state governments to complete projects approved under the schemes within the stipulated timelines and assess the outcomes of the initiatives. He also stressed the need for stronger coordination between the Centre and state governments to improve the implementation and impact of agricultural programmes.
The minister said government support for agriculture extends beyond direct financial assistance and includes efforts to make farming more modern, sustainable and profitable. He highlighted areas such as farm mechanisation, micro-irrigation, horticulture, oilseed and pulse production, digital technology and agroforestry as important areas for investment.
PM-RKVY is an umbrella scheme that supports sustainable and climate-resilient agriculture. Its areas of focus include soil health, rainfed farming, mechanisation, crop diversification, micro-irrigation and agri-startups.
The Krishonnati Yojana focuses on increasing farm production and strengthening food security. It covers areas including food grains, oilseeds, horticulture, seeds, agricultural extension and mechanisation.
