Synopsis

The proposed Yamuna Pushta elevated expressway in the Noida region has been extended from 31 km to around 50 km, with the revised alignment taking the corridor closer to Noida International Airport in Jewar. Estimated to cost about INR 4,000 crore, the eight-lane project will begin near Sector 94 in Noida and extend through Greater Noida and the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority area towards Sector 23C. The corridor is planned as an alternative to the congested Noida Expressway and is expected to provide an additional route towards the airport as passenger and regional traffic increases.

The proposed Yamuna Pushta elevated expressway has been extended from its earlier 31-km alignment to approximately 50 km, with the revised route taking the corridor closer to Noida International Airport in Jewar. The decision was taken during a meeting involving the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), Noida Authority, Greater Noida Authority and Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) earlier this week. The project is estimated to cost around INR 4,000 crore.
The proposed eight-lane elevated corridor will start near Sector 94 in Noida, close to the Okhla Barrage, and run along the Yamuna embankment. Under the revised alignment, it will continue beyond the previously planned endpoint near Chi-IV in Greater Noida and extend towards the YEIDA area, terminating around Sector 23C, where it is planned to connect with the Faridabad-Jewar Greenfield Expressway.
The original proposal envisaged a 31-km elevated road from Sector 94 to the Chi-IV area near Gautam Buddha University, where it would connect towards the Yamuna Expressway. The extension adds roughly 19 km to the planned corridor and takes it further south-east towards the airport region.
From Sector 94, the alignment is planned to pass through or alongside several Noida sectors, including Sectors 95 and 125 to 135, before continuing towards Greater Noida and YEIDA. The route has been revised partly in anticipation of additional traffic expected once Noida International Airport begins commercial operations.
The elevated road is being planned as an alternative corridor to the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway, particularly for traffic travelling towards the airport. By providing a separate route along the Yamuna Pushta, the project is intended to distribute traffic across multiple corridors rather than concentrating airport-bound vehicles on the existing expressway.
NHAI is currently working on the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the expanded corridor. The project will require coordination among the three development authorities because the alignment crosses areas under their respective jurisdictions. Land requirements and other implementation aspects are also being examined as the route is taken forward.
The revised alignment is part of a broader effort to build multiple road connections around Noida International Airport. Another proposed corridor is the Faridabad-Jewar Greenfield Expressway, which is expected to connect with the extended Yamuna Pushta road. Separately, Uttar Pradesh has initiated work on a proposed 74-km access-controlled link between Noida airport and the Ganga Expressway through Bulandshahr.
The airport connectivity programme is being developed as passenger and commercial activity around Jewar increases. The Gautam Buddh Nagar district administration identifies Noida International Airport as a major regional connectivity project, with planned road links forming part of its wider transport network.
Once developed, the 50-km Yamuna Pushta corridor will provide another north-west to south-east connection across Noida, Greater Noida and the YEIDA area. Its revised alignment is intended to bring airport-bound traffic closer to a dedicated high-capacity corridor while providing an additional alternative to existing road routes.
