IFFCO-TOKIO General Insurance Company Limited has settled more than 100 insurance claims related to the recent floods in Gujarat and Maharashtra, covering both motor and non-motor policies, as the insurer works to expedite financial assistance for affected policyholders. The company said it has deployed dedicated teams to accelerate surveys, assessments and settlements following the flooding.
The insurer has introduced a quick claims settlement process for customers affected by the floods. Its teams are undertaking surveys and damage assessments and processing eligible claims with the stated objective of reducing the time taken for policyholders to receive assistance.
Tatsuya Fujimoto, director (operations), IFFCO-TOKIO General Insurance Company Limited, said the company recognised the difficulties faced by families and businesses affected by the floods in Gujarat and Maharashtra. He said teams were working to assess genuine claims and settle them as quickly as possible, while maintaining the company's commitment to supporting customers and society during periods of difficulty.
The insurer's response covers claims relating to motor as well as non-motor insurance policies. The company has asked customers requiring assistance with their claims to approach their nearest IFFCO-TOKIO office or use its customer support channels. The insurer's customer support number is 1800-103-5499.
IFFCO-TOKIO has also issued precautions for policyholders dealing with the aftermath of flooding. It has advised people to prioritise their safety and avoid entering flooded areas or driving on waterlogged roads, where doing so could expose them to further risks.
Customers have also been advised to remain away from exposed electrical wires and, where it can be done safely, switch off the main power supply. These precautions are intended to reduce the risk of further injury or damage while affected properties and vehicles are being assessed.
Where conditions permit, policyholders should photograph or record videos of damage to vehicles, homes, businesses and other insured assets before carrying out repairs or disposing of damaged items. The insurer has also advised customers to retain relevant documents, bills and other evidence associated with the loss, as these may be required during the claims process.
Policyholders have been asked to inform their insurance company promptly after an incident. The insurer said emergency situations should always be approached with personal safety as the first priority, with people following advisories and instructions issued by local authorities during and after flooding.
