Oriom Group has launched Oriom Realty, a dedicated real estate vertical that will develop residential, retail, commercial, hospitality and mixed-use projects across Odisha, initially focusing on Bhubaneswar and other emerging growth corridors. The move marks the industrial group's entry into organised real estate after 21 years of operations across steel and power, speciality chemicals and refractories. Headquartered in Bhubaneswar and originating in Jharsuguda, the group employs more than 3,000 people across multiple industrial facilities in eastern India. The company said its real estate strategy is linked to Odisha's infrastructure investment, industrial expansion and rising urbanisation. Odisha's urbanisation rate is currently about 17%, with the state targeting 40% by 2036 and 60% by 2047. Oriom Realty plans to use the group's engineering, governance and project execution capabilities across its proposed developments.
Oriom Group has launched Oriom Realty, a dedicated real estate business that will develop residential, retail, commercial, hospitality and mixed-use projects across Odisha, beginning with Bhubaneswar and other emerging growth corridors. The announcement was made in Mumbai on August 8, with the company positioning the new vertical as part of its longer-term participation in Odisha's urban development.
The launch marks the group's expansion into real estate after 21 years of industrial operations spanning steel and power, speciality chemicals and refractories. Oriom Group originated in Jharsuguda and is headquartered in Bhubaneswar. It currently employs more than 3,000 people and operates multiple industrial facilities across eastern India.
The group has previously undertaken residential development in Jharsuguda. In early 2007, it facilitated the development of four multi-storey residential projects in the city, which it said were intended to provide modern housing as local demand increased.
Deepak Agrawal, director, Oriom Group, said the company's experience over the past 21 years in Odisha's industrial economy had led it to view the state's next phase of growth as being closely linked to urban development. He said Oriom Realty represented a long-term commitment to participating in the development of urban infrastructure and communities alongside industrial expansion.
Rajesh Agrawal, founder and director, Oriom Group, said the real estate business represented an extension of the group's existing capabilities in engineering, financial management and project execution. He said infrastructure investment, manufacturing expansion, increasing incomes and urbanisation were creating longer-term demand for residential and commercial developments in Odisha.
Anil Kedia, director, Oriom Group, said the company intended to develop communities with modern infrastructure as Odisha continued to attract investment.
The group's real estate strategy is linked to the state's development plans, including Vision 2036 and Vision 2047, which identify urbanisation, industrial competitiveness, logistics and regional economic corridors as key areas of development. The company also pointed to ongoing investments in highways, airports, ports, railways and urban infrastructure as factors supporting economic activity across the state.
Bhubaneswar is also emerging as a key knowledge and investment centre in eastern India. Odisha's urbanisation rate currently stands at approximately 17%, while the state has set targets of reaching 40% by 2036 and 60% by 2047.
Oriom Realty plans to develop residential communities and commercial, retail, hospitality and mixed-use assets using the parent group's engineering expertise, institutional capabilities and governance practices. The company said its developments would incorporate sustainable design, modern technology, construction quality and customer engagement processes.
The group said its entry into real estate would extend its existing economic contribution in Odisha from industrial asset development towards urban development, with the initial project pipeline focused on Bhubaneswar and other growth corridors within the state.
