Synopsis

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has expanded its artificial intelligence innovation network by launching a Gemini Experience Centre in Kolkata in partnership with Google Cloud. The facility is the company's third such centre in India and is designed to help consumer-focused businesses develop and deploy AI solutions. The centre will cater to sectors including retail, consumer packaged goods, travel, tourism and hospitality. TCS also plans to establish 10 Gemini Experience Centres globally by the end of 2026, with four of them located in India, as part of its broader AI expansion strategy.

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has launched a Gemini Experience Centre (GEC) in Kolkata in collaboration with Google Cloud to showcase artificial intelligence (AI)-driven innovations for consumer businesses. The new facility is part of the company's broader strategy to expand its global network of industry-specific AI innovation hubs and help enterprises adopt AI at scale.
Built using Google Cloud infrastructure and Google's Gemini models, the Consumer Business Group (CBG) Gemini Experience Centre is TCS' third such facility in India after Chennai and Bengaluru. The company said it plans to establish 10 Gemini Experience Centres globally by the end of 2026, including four across India.
The Kolkata centre has been designed to help enterprises from the retail, consumer packaged goods (CPG), travel, tourism and hospitality sectors co-create, test and scale AI-powered business solutions. The facility will provide a collaborative environment where businesses can evaluate AI use cases before implementing them across their operations.
The centre will demonstrate agentic AI-enabled solutions across key business functions, including store operations, supply chain management, omnichannel retail and customer service. These capabilities will be showcased through immersive demonstrations and co-innovation workshops, allowing enterprises to explore practical AI applications for improving efficiency and customer experience.
TCS said it has already developed more than 3,000 industry- and context-aware AI agents using Gemini Enterprise. These specialised AI agents have been built for industries such as retail, consumer goods, travel, transportation and hospitality, supporting businesses in automating processes and improving decision-making.
The launch further strengthens the ongoing partnership between TCS and Google Cloud, which has been focused on helping enterprises accelerate digital transformation through cloud computing, data analytics and generative AI technologies. In recent years, both companies have expanded their collaboration to support businesses in adopting enterprise-grade AI solutions across multiple industries.
Google Cloud Director of Partnerships (India), Shivir Chordia, said the new centre is expected to accelerate the adoption of agentic AI by enabling consumer businesses to jointly develop and scale next-generation AI innovations with support from both organisations.
TCS Consumer Business Group Chief Technology Officer Murali Ramanathan said the new facility reflects the company's commitment to helping enterprises move beyond AI pilot projects towards enterprise-wide AI adoption through deeper collaboration with Google Cloud.
