• Jharkhand Chief Minister Shri Hemant Soren has directed the Road Construction Department to complete pending priority road infrastructure projects within the next two months following a high-level review meeting in Ranchi.
• The Chief Minister instructed officials to prioritise road widening, bridge construction, flyovers and other ongoing works while ensuring adherence to quality standards and project timelines.
• He also called for geo-tagging and a comprehensive digital database of all projects to strengthen transparency, monitoring and timely grievance redressal.
• The review focused on accelerating infrastructure delivery, improving road conditions during the monsoon and strengthening Jharkhand's transport network to support economic development.
Jharkhand Chief Minister Shri Hemant Soren has directed the state's Road Construction Department to complete pending priority road infrastructure projects within the next two months, emphasising timely execution, quality construction and improved monitoring of ongoing works. The directions were issued during a high-level review meeting held in Ranchi to assess the progress of road, flyover and bridge projects being implemented across the state.
During the review, departmental officials presented the progress of projects undertaken over the past five years, including completed works, projects under construction and upcoming infrastructure initiatives. The Chief Minister instructed officials to ensure that all schemes are implemented within their stipulated timelines and that delayed projects are completed on a priority basis to improve connectivity and public convenience.
Shri Hemant Soren stated that the expansion of roads, bridges and flyovers is central to strengthening Jharkhand's infrastructure network and supporting economic activity across the state. He observed that a well-developed road network would facilitate smoother transportation while improving access to markets, public services and regional development opportunities.
To improve project governance, the Chief Minister directed the department to prepare and maintain a comprehensive digital database of all infrastructure projects. He also instructed officials to implement geo-tagging for every project so that information relating to project cost, execution status, timelines and physical progress can be monitored more effectively. According to the state government, these measures are intended to enhance transparency, strengthen supervision and enable quicker resolution of project-related issues.
The Chief Minister also asked officials to give priority to complaints received through the media and social media regarding damaged roads, potholes, waterlogging and construction quality. He directed the department to undertake prompt repairs, improve drainage arrangements during the monsoon season and ensure that road quality standards are maintained across all ongoing projects. Special emphasis was placed on widening narrow roads and strengthening existing corridors to improve traffic movement and safety.
Reviewing major infrastructure works, Shri Hemant Soren instructed the department to accelerate the execution of roads, flyovers and bridges, particularly those of strategic importance in Ranchi and other parts of the state. He also reviewed progress on solar cycle track projects and other new initiatives, directing officials to maintain high standards of construction quality, strengthen bridge approaches and ensure proper drainage infrastructure in all projects.
The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Shri Avinash Kumar, Road Construction Department Secretary Shri Sunil Kumar, Engineer-in-Chief Shri Praveen Jayant Bhengra and senior departmental officials. The review forms part of the state government's efforts to expedite infrastructure delivery and improve road connectivity through closer monitoring and timely completion of key public works.
