• Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Haryana, Chandigarh and Punjab on July 17 to launch and inaugurate development projects worth around INR 25,000 crore, spanning railways, highways, healthcare, education and urban infrastructure.
• The Prime Minister will flag off India's first hydrogen-powered passenger train between Jind and Sonipat, making India one of the few countries to operate hydrogen-powered rail services using indigenous technology.
• The visit will also include the inauguration and foundation laying of major expressways, highways, hospitals, railway stations and educational infrastructure aimed at improving connectivity and public services across the three states.
• Among the key projects are the Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway, 75 redeveloped Amrit Bharat railway stations, new rail lines, advanced healthcare facilities at PGIMER Chandigarh, and multiple National Highway projects.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will undertake a one-day visit to Haryana, Chandigarh and Punjab on July 17, during which he will inaugurate, dedicate and lay the foundation stone for infrastructure and development projects worth around INR 25,000 crore. The projects span transportation, healthcare, education and road infrastructure, and are aimed at enhancing regional connectivity and public services.
The visit will begin in Jind, Haryana, where the Prime Minister will flag off India's first hydrogen-powered passenger train operating between Jind and Sonipat. Developed using indigenous technology, the 10-coach train is powered by hydrogen fuel cells that generate electricity onboard, producing only water vapour as a by-product. The hydrogen train, equipped with a 3,200 HP propulsion system, is among the world's longest and most powerful hydrogen-powered passenger trains and represents a major step towards cleaner rail transport.
In Haryana, the Prime Minister will also dedicate and lay the foundation stone for National Highway projects worth over INR 12,470 crore. These include the 157.92-km Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway (Packages 1 to 5), the Ambala-Kala Amb Highway, and the Jind-Gohana Greenfield Highway, besides laying the foundation stone for the Hansi-Barwala Highway project. Other key initiatives include the inauguration of the Kurukshetra Elevated Railway Track, two new government medical colleges and the foundation stone for a Sikh Museum in Kurukshetra.
In Chandigarh, projects worth over INR 4,700 crore will be inaugurated or launched. These include the Advanced Mother and Child Centre, the Advanced Neurosciences Centre and a new 150-bed Critical Care Block at PGIMER. The Prime Minister will also inaugurate student hostels at educational institutions and launch key road projects, including the IT City-Kurali Greenfield Highway and the PR-7 Spur of the Ambala-Chandigarh Greenfield Highway, aimed at easing regional traffic and improving inter-state connectivity.
Later in Jalandhar, the Prime Minister will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for rail and road projects worth over INR 5,470 crore. Highlights include the inauguration of 75 redeveloped Amrit Bharat railway stations across 20 states, the Daulatpur Chowk-Kartoli rail line, the launch of the Kartoli-Ambala and Amritsar (Chheharta)-Varanasi train services, and the inauguration and foundation laying of National Highway projects, including Package 6 of the Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway and the Southern Ludhiana Bypass.
The projects collectively aim to strengthen multimodal connectivity, improve healthcare and educational infrastructure, promote sustainable transportation and support economic growth across northern India through enhanced logistics, mobility and public infrastructure.
