HiLITE Group has appointed Neka Sulaiman as Director of HiLITE Holdings to head its hospitality division and lead the company's expansion plans across Kerala. The Group has set a target of developing 1,000 hotel keys by 2030, with Kozhikode expected to play a central role in the strategy. The move marks HiLITE Group's entry into a larger hospitality business alongside its existing real estate, retail and commercial portfolio. Neka brings operational experience from the Group's café business along with a background in commerce and finance.
HiLITE Group has appointed Neka Sulaiman, daughter of Chairman P. Sulaiman, as Director of HiLITE Holdings, where she will lead the company's hospitality division. In her new role, she will oversee the Group's expansion plans in the hospitality sector, with a target of developing 1,000 hotel keys across Kerala by 2030.
The appointment marks the next phase of HiLITE Group's growth as it expands beyond its established presence in retail, residential, commercial and business infrastructure projects. The company is now strengthening its focus on the hospitality sector, which has witnessed increasing demand across Kerala due to growth in tourism, business travel and infrastructure development.
Under the new strategy, HiLITE Group plans to build a diversified hospitality portfolio spanning luxury, upscale and midscale hotel segments. Kozhikode has been identified as one of the key markets for this expansion, supported by the city's growing business activity, tourism, healthcare services and educational institutions.
Speaking about her new responsibility, Neka Sulaiman said the Group intends to develop hospitality destinations that become an integral part of the city's business, cultural and social ecosystem. She added that the company believes this is an appropriate time to strengthen Kozhikode's hospitality sector and that the objective goes beyond increasing hotel inventory to creating the right hospitality infrastructure for a rapidly growing city.
Commenting on the appointment, Group Chairman P. Sulaiman said Neka's elevation reflects her commitment, sense of responsibility and leadership qualities. He expressed confidence that she would bring a fresh perspective to the Group's hospitality business while contributing to its long-term growth.
Before taking over the hospitality division, Neka was associated with Hug a Mug, HiLITE Group's in-house cafe brand, where she gained practical experience in operations, customer service and team coordination during her academic years. She said the experience helped her understand business operations from the ground level and provided valuable exposure to customer-focused management.
Neka completed her schooling at The White School International under the International Baccalaureate curriculum and holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree. She has also completed the Certified Management Accountant (CMA) qualification, strengthening her knowledge in finance, management and business strategy.
HiLITE Group has steadily expanded its presence across Kerala over the years through residential townships, commercial developments, shopping malls and mixed-use projects. The company's entry into hospitality aligns with the growing investment interest in Kerala's tourism and business infrastructure, where demand for branded hotels has been increasing alongside improvements in connectivity and economic activity.
