Food Square has expanded its retail footprint with the launch of a 9,000 sq ft gourmet food and lifestyle store on Sindhu Bhavan Road in Ahmedabad. The new outlet marks the company's first expansion outside Mumbai and brings together international grocery products, fresh produce, in-house dining, gifting services and experiential retail under one roof. The store features imported gourmet products, artisanal bakery offerings, curated cheese selections and personalised gifting solutions. Food Square said the expansion reflects Ahmedabad's growing premium consumption market and forms part of its broader strategy to extend its experiential food retail concept to cities across India.
Food Square has opened a 9,000 sq ft gourmet retail and food destination on Sindhu Bhavan Road in Ahmedabad, marking its first expansion outside Mumbai. The new store, inaugurated earlier this week, has been designed as an integrated food and lifestyle destination, combining premium grocery retail, fresh produce, dining experiences and personalised gifting services under a single roof.
The Ahmedabad outlet offers an expanded selection of international grocery products, speciality ingredients and curated food experiences aimed at consumers seeking premium and global food offerings. The company said the city's established food culture and growing demand for premium retail experiences made Ahmedabad a suitable location for its first venture beyond Mumbai.
The store houses a range of imported and speciality products, including international pantry staples, gourmet ingredients and premium food items that are not widely available in the Indian market. Its product portfolio includes imported olive oils, speciality beverages, caviar and a curated collection of cheeses sourced from Switzerland and Italy. The fresh produce section combines locally sourced organic produce with imported fruits and berries.
Alongside grocery retail, the store incorporates a range of experiential services intended to enhance customer engagement. These include a dedicated gifting section offering customised gourmet hampers and personalised gift solutions for individual, corporate and festive occasions. Customers can also access personal gifting consultants to curate bespoke gifting packages.
Food Square has also introduced several signature in-store concepts at the Ahmedabad outlet. The Cheese Corner allows customers to assemble customised cheese boards with assistance from product specialists, while The Gift Shop focuses on premium gifting options. The Chopping Board service provides freshly cut fruits and vegetables alongside made-to-order preparations such as fresh guacamole. Breadsmith, the company's in-house bakery, offers freshly baked breads, pastries and artisanal baked products.
The new store will also house Mumbai-based food brands Naked Coffee and Paleoo Bakes, introducing both brands to the Ahmedabad market for the first time through the Food Square retail format.
Commenting on the expansion, Lalit Jhawar, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Food Square, said the company views food as an experience rather than merely a necessity. He stated that Ahmedabad was selected for its first expansion outside Mumbai because of the city's strong culinary culture, appreciation for quality food and openness to discovering new products. He added that the launch marks the beginning of Food Square's plans to expand its retail concept into additional cities across India.
Founded by farmer-entrepreneurs Lalit Jhawar and Mayank Gupta, Food Square operates as a premium gourmet retail chain offering global and locally sourced food products alongside in-house cafés, catering services and discovery-led retail experiences. The Ahmedabad store represents the company's latest step in expanding its presence in India's organised premium food retail segment.
