Thailand's Board of Investment (BOI) has approved USD 1.99 billion in new investment projects spanning manufacturing, aviation, digital infrastructure and electronics, with Nestlé and Thai Airways among the largest beneficiaries. The approvals were announced in the past week as part of the country's ongoing strategy to encourage investment across key sectors of the economy.
The largest investment approval was granted to the Thai subsidiary of Nestlé, which will invest USD 688.7 million (THB 22.9 billion) to expand its production facilities in Samut Prakan. The project will increase manufacturing capacity for instant coffee, mixed coffee products and ready-to-drink coffee beverages.
National carrier Thai Airways received approval for expansion projects valued at USD 430.2 million. The investment will support the airline's plan to lease eight aircraft, strengthening its fleet as it continues to expand operations.
In the technology sector, Datasection (Thailand) Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Japan's Datasection Inc., secured approval to invest USD 235.2 million (THB 7.8 billion) in establishing high-performance GPU server infrastructure for data hosting services. The facilities will be developed in Bangkok and Pathum Thani, supporting growing demand for advanced computing and digital infrastructure.
Meanwhile, the Thai subsidiary of South Korea's Donsan Group received approval to invest USD 180.2 million in a manufacturing facility producing copper-clad laminate and prepreg, both of which are essential raw materials used in the production of printed circuit boards for the electronics industry.
The latest approvals reflect Thailand's continued emphasis on attracting investment across diverse industries, including advanced manufacturing, aviation, digital technology and electronics. Through the BOI's investment promotion framework, the government continues to support projects that strengthen industrial capacity, expand production capabilities and enhance the country's position as a regional manufacturing and technology hub.
