The upcoming Gurugram Metro corridor will provide a direct interchange with Delhi Metro's Yellow Line at Millennium City Centre, significantly improving connectivity between the city's new metro network and the National Capital Region. The corridor will also include five interchange stations linking commuters to the Rapid Metro, railway network, bus services and the proposed Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS). Officials say the integrated network is expected to reduce travel time, encourage public transport use and support seamless multimodal mobility across Gurugram.
The Gurugram Metro project is set to offer seamless connectivity with Delhi Metro through a direct interchange at Millennium City Centre station, enabling commuters to switch conveniently to the Yellow Line without leaving the station premises. The integration forms a key part of the 28.5-km metro corridor being developed between Millennium City Centre and Cyber City, with a spur extending towards the Dwarka Expressway.
According to project officials, Millennium City Centre will serve as the principal interchange with the Yellow Line, allowing passengers travelling between Gurugram and Delhi to transfer directly between the two systems. Earlier proposals to shift the interchange to Sikanderpur were dropped after technical and feasibility assessments, with planners retaining Millennium City Centre as the corridor's primary connection to the Delhi Metro network.
Beyond the Yellow Line integration, the Gurugram Metro has been designed as a multimodal transport corridor featuring five interchange stations. These will connect passengers with the Delhi Metro, Rapid Metro, Indian Railways, city bus services and the proposed Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS), creating an integrated public transport network across the city.
The project, being implemented by Gurugram Metro Rail Limited (GMRL), comprises 27 elevated stations stretching from Millennium City Centre to Cyber City. The route passes through several residential, commercial and industrial areas, including Subhash Chowk, Hero Honda Chowk, Udyog Vihar and Cyber City, while also improving connectivity to developing urban zones along the Dwarka Expressway.
Officials believe the direct interchange at Millennium City Centre will substantially reduce travel time for commuters heading to Delhi while encouraging greater use of public transport. By integrating with multiple transport systems, the corridor is expected to improve first- and last-mile connectivity and ease congestion on some of Gurugram's busiest arterial roads.
Once operational, the Gurugram Metro is expected to strengthen the city's public transport network by linking old and new Gurugram with key employment centres, residential neighbourhoods and regional transport corridors. The planned interchange facilities are also expected to support future expansion of the National Capital Region's integrated transit network, making multimodal travel more efficient for daily commuters.
