The projects also align with the state's broader focus on attracting large-scale investments in the renewable energy sector.
Andhra Pradesh Information Technology Minister Nara Lokesh on Thursday laid the foundation stone for renewable energy projects being developed by Tata Power and Suzlon Energy at Pattikonda in Kurnool district. The projects involve a combined investment of INR 5,750 crore and will create 800 MW of solar and wind power generation capacity.
The renewable energy developments are expected to enhance Andhra Pradesh's clean energy infrastructure and support the state's plans to emerge as a major renewable energy hub. The projects will add to the state's installed green power capacity while helping meet the increasing electricity requirements of industries and other consumers.
Sharing details of the development on social media, Lokesh said the investment marked another step towards strengthening Rayalaseema's role in the renewable energy sector. He noted that the INR 5,750 crore investment and the 800 MW project reflect the state's continued focus on expanding clean energy generation and attracting large-scale investments.
The minister further said the projects would play an important role in supporting Andhra Pradesh's transition towards renewable energy while ensuring adequate power supply for the state's growing industrial base. The initiative is also expected to contribute to the state's long-term strategy of increasing the share of renewable sources in its energy mix.
The foundation ceremony adds to Andhra Pradesh's ongoing efforts to attract investments across the renewable energy sector. The state has been promoting large-scale solar, wind and hybrid power projects by leveraging its favourable natural resources, transmission infrastructure and industrial growth plans.
