A new bridge connecting Sector 11 in Koparkhairane with the road leading to the Pawaneshwar flyover has been inaugurated in Navi Mumbai, providing a direct route to APMC Market and Turbhe. The 41-metre-long and 7.5-metre-wide structure addresses a connectivity gap in the original CIDCO master plan, which did not include a direct road between Koparkhairane, Bonkode and the APMC area. The bridge is expected to reduce travel distance, fuel consumption and commuting time for residents of Koparkhairane, Khairanegaon and Bonkodegaon, while also serving as an alternative route towards the Thane-Belapur Road and helping ease traffic congestion on the Vashi–Koparkhairane corridor.
A bridge connecting Sector 11 in Koparkhairane with the road leading to the Pawaneshwar flyover was inaugurated during the past week, improving road connectivity between Koparkhairane, APMC Market and Turbhe. The inauguration was carried out by Maharashtra Forest Minister Ganesh Naik, who said the project addresses a long-standing connectivity gap and would benefit residents by reducing travel distance and improving access to key commercial areas.
Speaking at the inauguration, Naik noted that the original CIDCO development plan did not include a direct road connecting Koparkhairane and Bonkode with APMC Market and Turbhe. He said the newly constructed bridge would eliminate the need for a lengthy detour and provide a more convenient route for daily commuters. He also stated that a road running parallel to the railway tracks would further improve connectivity and added that discussions would be held with the concerned authorities to explore the proposal.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Navi Mumbai Mayor Sujata Patil, Deputy Mayor Dashrath Bhagat, Leader of the House Sagar Naik, local corporators Munawar Patel, Vaishnavi Naik and Aditi Naik, nominated corporator Amit Medhkar, former corporator Liladhar Naik and several local residents.
The bridge has been constructed over a major drainage channel between the road beneath the Pawaneshwar flyover and Sector 11 in Koparkhairane. The structure measures 41 metres in length and 7.5 metres in width, creating a direct link that was previously unavailable. According to the civic administration, residents travelling from the Koparkhairane area to APMC Market earlier had to take a considerably longer route. The new bridge is expected to reduce both travel time and fuel consumption for motorists.
The improved connectivity is expected to particularly benefit residents of Sector 11, Koparkhairane, Khairanegaon and Bonkodegaon by providing easier access to APMC Market. The bridge will also facilitate movement for commuters travelling between Turbhe APMC, Sanpada and Koparkhairane, while offering an alternative approach to the Thane-Belapur Road.
The civic body said the additional road link is also expected to help distribute traffic more efficiently and reduce congestion on the Vashi–Koparkhairane main road by providing motorists with an alternative route between the residential and commercial areas of Navi Mumbai.
