V-Mart Retail reported a 40.5% year-on-year increase in net profit for the first quarter of FY27, supported by improved operating performance and strong revenue growth. Revenue from operations rose 23% during the quarter, while total income also recorded healthy growth. The value retailer continued its expansion by opening 15 new stores and closing one underperforming outlet. With 591 stores spread across 50 lakh square feet of retail space, the company maintained its focus on strengthening its presence across India despite higher operating expenses.
V-Mart Retail has reported a 40.5% year-on-year increase in consolidated net profit to INR 47.21 crore for the first quarter of FY27, driven by improved operating performance and higher sales across its retail network.
The value fashion retailer had posted a net profit of INR 33.60 crore during the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year, according to a regulatory filing.
Revenue from operations grew 23% year-on-year to INR 1,088.81 crore in the quarter, compared with INR 885.22 crore in the same period last year. The growth came as the company continued to expand its retail footprint while strengthening sales across its existing stores.
Total expenses increased 22% to INR 1,031.94 crore, reflecting higher operational costs in line with business expansion and increased revenue.
The company's retail trade business remained its primary revenue contributor, generating INR 1,083.48 crore, while its digital marketplace business contributed INR 10.37 crore during the quarter.
Including other income, V-Mart's total income rose 22.9% year-on-year to INR 1,091.46 crore.
Over the past week, the retailer expanded its network by opening 15 new stores while shutting one underperforming outlet as part of its portfolio optimisation strategy. The company has continued to focus on expanding its presence in tier II, tier III and smaller cities, where value retail continues to see steady consumer demand.
By the end of the quarter, V-Mart operated 591 stores with a total retail area of 50 lakh square feet, reflecting its continued expansion across the country. The company has consistently added stores in recent years as part of its long-term growth strategy, while also strengthening its omnichannel presence through its digital marketplace.
Shares of V-Mart Retail settled at INR 726 apiece, down 4.42% from the previous closing price.
