Flipkart has partnered with the Department of Posts to strengthen its parcel delivery network across India by leveraging India Post's extensive presence of more than 1.6 lakh post offices. The collaboration will support last-mile deliveries for prepaid and cash-on-delivery orders in urban, semi-urban and rural areas, including remote locations. The partnership is expected to improve serviceability, delivery efficiency and market reach. It also reflects the growing role of India Post in supporting e-commerce logistics, following a similar agreement signed with Amazon India in the past.
Flipkart has partnered with the Department of Posts to strengthen its parcel delivery operations across the country by using India Post's extensive network for last-mile deliveries. The e-commerce company said the collaboration will help it expand its reach, improve delivery efficiency and enhance serviceability, particularly in remote and rural areas.
Under the agreement, the Department of Posts will provide last-mile delivery services for Flipkart shipments across India. Through the partnership, Flipkart will gain access to India Post's network of more than 1.6 lakh post offices, one of the country's largest postal and logistics networks.
As part of the arrangement, Flipkart will use India Post's infrastructure to deliver parcels across urban, semi-urban and rural regions, including underserved and remote locations where logistics coverage has traditionally been more challenging.
The services covered under the partnership include delivery of prepaid as well as cash-on-delivery (COD) parcels. India Post will also provide one-time password (OTP)-based delivery authentication along with real-time shipment tracking, helping improve delivery transparency and customer convenience.
The collaboration comes as e-commerce companies continue to strengthen their logistics capabilities to serve customers beyond major cities. India Post, with its wide network and reach across the country, has increasingly become a preferred logistics partner for online retailers looking to improve last-mile connectivity.
The Department of Posts has been expanding its role in the e-commerce logistics segment in recent years by partnering with leading online marketplaces. During the past year, it entered into a similar agreement with Amazon India to provide last-mile parcel delivery services, reflecting its growing importance in supporting the country's expanding digital commerce ecosystem.
