Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has directed officials to prioritise cleanliness, planned urban development and civic infrastructure in Gurugram, while reviewing public grievances related to housing, utilities and environmental compliance. During a review meeting, he instructed authorities to ensure the scientific disposal of construction and demolition (C&D) waste, improve basic amenities in regularised colonies and prevent builders from disconnecting electricity supplies over maintenance disputes. The Chief Minister also set a one-month deadline to eliminate open dumping of C&D waste across the city and called for stricter enforcement against violations. The directions form part of the state government's efforts to strengthen urban governance and improve civic infrastructure in Gurugram.
Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has directed officials to accelerate efforts towards cleanliness, planned urban development and civic infrastructure in Gurugram, while ordering prompt resolution of public grievances relating to housing, utilities and environmental management. The directions were issued during a review meeting held in the city in the past week.
Chairing the meeting, Saini instructed officers from construction agencies and government departments to ensure that construction and demolition (C&D) waste is disposed of only at designated facilities and in accordance with scientific waste management norms. He also directed authorities to strengthen monitoring and enforcement to prevent environmental violations arising from improper waste disposal.
A total of 15 public grievances were reviewed during the meeting, of which 13 were resolved immediately. The remaining two cases were kept pending, with officials directed to submit detailed status reports at the next review meeting. Saini also emphasised timely disposal of complaints received through the CM Window portal, stating that he regularly reviews grievances submitted on the platform. He instructed officers to address every complaint impartially and within the prescribed timelines, warning that negligence, indifference or misconduct would invite strict action.
Residents of Wazirpur Enclave, located within the Municipal Corporation Manesar area, informed the Chief Minister that despite the colony being regularised by the government, it continued to face shortages of basic civic amenities. They also sought improvements to the local power infrastructure and an increase in electricity load to meet the needs of the area's growing population. Taking note of these concerns, Saini directed the concerned departments to undertake a joint survey of the colony and implement priority measures to address the deficiencies.
The meeting also addressed complaints from residents of Sector 83, who alleged that a builder had been disconnecting electricity supply to households over unpaid maintenance charges. Saini instructed the relevant authorities to ensure that builders do not disconnect electricity services as a means of recovering maintenance dues. He warned that any developer found adopting such practices would face action under the applicable legal provisions.
Another complaint, raised by a resident of Sector 102, related to the open dumping of C&D waste by a builder, resulting in environmental violations. Following the complaint, the Chief Minister directed officials to ensure that all open dumping of construction waste across Gurugram is eliminated within one month. He instructed authorities to issue notices to developers violating the rules, impose statutory penalties and establish an effective mechanism to prevent similar violations in future.
The review meeting forms part of the Haryana government's broader focus on improving urban governance, strengthening civic infrastructure and ensuring planned development across Gurugram. The directions issued by the Chief Minister place particular emphasis on environmental compliance, better public services and accountability in addressing residents' grievances.
