Construction of Jaipur Metro Phase 2 has commenced after Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma launched work on the INR 13,370 crore project. The 41-km metro corridor will feature 36 stations, connecting Prahladpura in Sitapura to Todi Mod across Jaipur. The route will improve access to the airport, railway stations, hospitals, educational institutions and industrial areas. Scheduled for completion by September 2031, the project is expected to expand the city's urban transport network and improve connectivity across key residential and commercial zones.
Construction of Jaipur Metro Phase 2 has officially commenced after Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma launched work on the city's long-awaited metro expansion project. The new phase, valued at INR 13,370 crore, will add a 41-km corridor comprising 36 stations, significantly expanding Jaipur's rapid transit network and improving connectivity across the city. The project follows years of planning and is targeted for completion by September 2031.
The Phase 2 corridor will connect Prahladpura in Sitapura in the south with Todi Mod in the north, passing through several important residential, commercial and institutional areas. The alignment will provide metro connectivity to Jaipur International Airport, major railway stations, SMS Hospital, government offices, educational institutions and the Sitapura Industrial Area, creating a broader public transport network across the Rajasthan capital.
The expansion is designed to strengthen urban mobility by linking key economic and social destinations while reducing dependence on road-based transport. The project is also expected to improve accessibility for commuters travelling between residential neighbourhoods, employment centres and public infrastructure spread across different parts of Jaipur.
According to the project details, the corridor will comprise 36 stations along its 41-km route, making it the largest expansion of Jaipur Metro since commercial operations began. The metro network currently operates the Pink Line, and Phase 2 represents the next stage of the city's long-term public transport development programme.
The expansion is expected to support growing travel demand in Jaipur by improving access to important public facilities and commercial districts. Enhanced connectivity to industrial areas, transport hubs and educational institutions is also expected to benefit businesses, workers and daily commuters using the city's public transport system.
The project forms part of Rajasthan's wider infrastructure development agenda, with the state government seeking to strengthen transport connectivity in Jaipur as the city continues to expand. Metro rail projects have increasingly become a key component of urban infrastructure planning, aimed at addressing traffic congestion, reducing travel times and supporting sustainable mobility in rapidly growing cities.
With construction now underway, Jaipur Metro Phase 2 is expected to reshape the city's transit network over the coming years by extending metro access to several previously unserved areas. Once completed, the corridor will create a more comprehensive rapid transit system, linking residential, commercial and institutional centres while supporting the city's long-term urban development objectives.
