I Squared Capital and Japan Overseas Infrastructure Investment Corporation for Transport and Urban Development (JOIN) have entered into a partnership to jointly explore infrastructure opportunities outside Japan. The collaboration will focus on transportation and urban development projects across the Middle East, Asia Pacific and Europe. The agreement brings together I Squared Capital's global investment capabilities and JOIN's network across Japan's infrastructure sector. The development comes shortly after I Squared Capital signed another strategic agreement with Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF) to invest up to USD 2 billion in real estate and infrastructure assets in the Kingdom.
Asset manager I Squared Capital and the Japan Overseas Infrastructure Investment Corporation for Transport and Urban Development (JOIN) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to jointly explore infrastructure investment opportunities outside Japan. The partnership will focus on transportation and urban development projects across the Middle East, Asia Pacific and Europe, according to a joint announcement made in the past week.
Under the agreement, the two organisations plan to combine I Squared Capital's global investment platform, sector expertise and on-ground presence with JOIN's long-standing relationships across Japan's industrial and infrastructure sectors. The collaboration is aimed at identifying and supporting high-quality infrastructure projects in international markets.
JOIN President and Chief Executive Officer Tatsuhiko Takesada said the organisation expects to strengthen its partnership with I Squared Capital through the agreement and work together to encourage greater participation by Japanese companies in overseas infrastructure projects.
The partnership adds to I Squared Capital's growing focus on expanding its global infrastructure investment platform through strategic collaborations. The asset manager has investments across sectors such as energy, utilities, transport, telecom and digital infrastructure in multiple countries.
The latest agreement also follows another strategic development for I Squared Capital. Earlier this week, the company signed a separate memorandum of understanding with Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF) to invest up to USD 2 billion in real estate and infrastructure assets in the country. That partnership is expected to support long-term investment opportunities aligned with Saudi Arabia's infrastructure and urban development plans.
JOIN, a public-private investment corporation backed by the Japanese government, has been established to support Japanese companies participating in overseas infrastructure projects. Through this collaboration, both organisations aim to leverage their respective strengths to expand investment opportunities across key international markets.
