Rayzon Solar Limited has entered into a five-year partnership with US-based Caelux Corporation to manufacture up to 5 GW of next-generation perovskite-plus-silicon solar modules in India. Announced in the past week, the collaboration will integrate Caelux's energy-producing solar glass with Rayzon Solar's TOPCon module technology to develop modules with efficiencies of up to 28%. Commercial production is expected to commence by 2028, with the modules targeted at India's government utility procurement market. The partnership supports domestic manufacturing under the 'Make in India' initiative while contributing to the country's renewable energy capacity target of 500 GW by 2030.
Rayzon Solar Limited has signed a five-year agreement with California-based Caelux Corporation to manufacture up to 5 GW of perovskite-plus-silicon solar modules in India. The partnership will combine Caelux's perovskite solar glass technology with Rayzon Solar's TOPCon module platform to develop high-efficiency photovoltaic modules for the domestic market.
Under the agreement, Caelux's energy-producing solar glass will replace the conventional top glass used in solar modules with an additional perovskite power-generating layer, creating hybrid tandem modules. According to the companies, the technology is designed to improve power density and achieve module efficiencies of up to 28%, exceeding the performance of conventional silicon-only solar modules.
Rayzon Solar will integrate the technology into its existing 11.3 GW bifacial module manufacturing platform. The company said the collaboration will leverage its advanced TOPCon manufacturing capabilities to produce higher power-density solar modules while strengthening domestic manufacturing under the Government of India's 'Make in India' initiative.
Chirag Nakrani, Co-Founder and Managing Director of Rayzon Solar Limited, said the partnership would strengthen the company's technology capabilities while supporting India's ambition to establish globally competitive solar manufacturing. He added that integrating Caelux's technology with Rayzon Solar's manufacturing platform would reinforce the country's position in next-generation photovoltaic production.
Scott Graybeal, Chief Executive Officer of Caelux Corporation, said India has emerged as one of the world's leading solar manufacturing markets, making it a strategic destination for the company's international expansion. He added that the collaboration with Rayzon Solar represents an important step in scaling Caelux's perovskite technology globally.
The companies stated that they are currently working on initial deployment programmes, with commercial production expected to begin by 2028. The modules are also expected to qualify for India's government utility tenders.
The partnership comes as India's solar manufacturing sector continues to expand, supported by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy's Production Linked Incentive (PLI) schemes and the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) framework, which encourage domestic manufacturing and procurement.
Amit Barve, Chief Executive Officer of Rayzon Solar Limited, said the collaboration would strengthen the company's ability to manufacture high-efficiency solar products domestically while supporting India's target of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel energy capacity by 2030.
Rayzon Solar currently operates manufacturing facilities at Kim and Kosamba in Surat, Gujarat, with an ALMM-listed module manufacturing capacity of 11.31 GW. The company is also commissioning a 5.1 GW TOPCon solar cell manufacturing facility to expand its vertically integrated production capabilities.
Vish Iyer, Managing Director, India and West Asia, at Caelux Corporation, said the partnership has the potential to accelerate the adoption of advanced solar technologies in the Indian market by combining local manufacturing with next-generation module technology. He added that the collaboration is expected to support both solar project developers and the country's expanding renewable energy ecosystem.
