AFC Furniture Solutions has obtained Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) ISI Mark certification across four commercial furniture categories covered under the Government of India's Furniture (Quality Control) Order (QCO), 2025. Effective from February 13, 2026, the regulation makes BIS certification mandatory for the manufacture, sale and distribution of specified furniture products in India. The certifications cover work chairs, general-purpose chairs and stools, tables and desks, and storage units. According to the company, the achievement aligns its products with the mandatory national quality standards while complementing its existing international sustainability certifications as the furniture industry adapts to the new regulatory framework.
AFC Furniture Solutions has secured Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) ISI Mark certification across four commercial furniture categories covered under the Government of India's Furniture (Quality Control) Order (QCO), 2025, ahead of the implementation of mandatory quality standards for the sector.
The Furniture (Quality Control) Order, which came into effect on February 13, 2026, makes BIS certification a legal requirement for the manufacture, sale and distribution of specified furniture products in India. Issued under the BIS Act, 2016, the regulation introduces mandatory quality standards aimed at improving product safety, durability and manufacturing consistency across the organised furniture sector.
AFC Furniture Solutions received certification for work chairs, general-purpose chairs and stools, tables and desks, and storage units. According to the company, each certification requires compliance with prescribed BIS standards covering structural integrity, material safety and product durability. Compliance is verified through third-party product testing and factory assessments before certification is granted.
The company stated that the implementation of the Furniture QCO is expected to accelerate the formalisation of India's estimated USD 29 billion furniture industry, where a significant share of manufacturing has traditionally been undertaken by the unorganised sector without standardised quality certification.
Commenting on the certification, Maanoj Tomar, Founder of AFC Furniture Solutions, said the mandatory BIS framework establishes a uniform quality benchmark for the industry and shifts the focus towards verified product performance rather than pricing alone. He added that the company had been preparing for compliance well before the regulation became mandatory and believes the new standards will improve accountability across the furniture manufacturing sector.
In addition to the BIS ISI certifications, AFC Furniture Solutions also holds BIFMA Level® 3 accreditation, which assesses sustainability performance for commercial furniture products. According to the company, the combination of compliance with India's mandatory quality regulations and internationally recognised sustainability standards remains relatively uncommon within the domestic commercial furniture industry.
