The acquisition is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2026, subject to shareholder approval and other customary closing conditions.

Brookfield Asset Management and Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPP Investments) have entered into an agreement to acquire LXP Industrial Trust in an all-cash transaction valued at approximately USD 5.2 billion, according to an announcement made by the industrial real estate investment trust.
Following the announcement, LXP Industrial Trust's shares rose around 4% in premarket trading, reflecting a positive market response to the proposed acquisition.
The transaction underlines the continued investor interest in industrial real estate assets, particularly warehouse and logistics properties. Demand for these assets has remained strong in recent years as the expansion of e-commerce, increasing need for faster deliveries, and ongoing supply chain modernisation have encouraged companies to expand and upgrade their distribution networks.
Industrial real estate has continued to attract institutional investors globally due to stable occupancy levels, long-term leasing opportunities and sustained demand from logistics, manufacturing and distribution businesses. Brookfield has been actively expanding its global real estate portfolio, while CPP Investments has continued to increase its exposure to income-generating infrastructure and real estate assets through strategic acquisitions.
The acquisition is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2026, subject to approval from LXP Industrial Trust's shareholders and the fulfilment of customary closing conditions.
