IndiGo has selected Honeywell Aerospace's avionics and power systems for 810 Airbus A320neo family aircraft that will join its fleet over the coming years, marking one of the largest equipment agreements for the aerospace company. The partnership strengthens IndiGo's long-term fleet expansion strategy as it continues to grow its domestic and international operations. Honeywell will supply critical onboard systems and provide aftermarket support, building on its decade-long association with the airline and supporting the carrier's expanding fleet.
IndiGo has selected Honeywell Aerospace's avionics and power systems for 810 new Airbus A320neo family aircraft that are scheduled to be delivered over the coming years, further strengthening its long-term fleet expansion plans. The latest agreement covers aircraft from the Airbus A320neo family, including the A320neo, A321neo and A321XLR variants.
The development comes as IndiGo continues to expand its fleet to meet rising passenger demand in India and international markets. The airline currently has more than 900 Airbus aircraft on order, making it one of the world's largest customers for the European aircraft manufacturer.
Honeywell Aerospace said the agreement represents the largest selectable equipment order for new aircraft in the company's history and is expected to support its continued growth in the commercial aviation segment.
As part of the agreement, Honeywell Aerospace will supply its 131-9A auxiliary power units, advanced weather radar systems, traffic collision avoidance systems and flight management systems. The company will also provide aftermarket support services for the aircraft throughout their operational lifecycle.
Honeywell Aerospace has been working with IndiGo since 2015 and currently supports the airline's fleet of more than 400 aircraft. The expanded partnership builds on this long-standing relationship as the airline prepares to induct hundreds of additional aircraft over the next several years.
IndiGo's Chief Executive Officer Designate Willie Walsh said fleet resilience, operational efficiency and safety have remained the foundation of the airline's growth strategy since it began operations. He added that as IndiGo continues its transition into a global airline, Honeywell Aerospace's technologies and long-term support services are expected to further strengthen these capabilities, helping the airline maintain operational reliability, efficiency and a consistent passenger experience.
IndiGo has been pursuing an aggressive fleet expansion strategy in recent years to increase capacity across domestic and international routes. The airline has also placed record aircraft orders with Airbus, including a landmark order announced in 2023, as it aims to strengthen its position in the fast-growing aviation market and support its long-term international expansion plans.
