Synopsis

Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has announced that its property tax collection centres will remain operational on weekends and public holidays until June 30, 2026, enabling property owners to complete payments before a 2% late payment charge comes into effect from July 1. The special arrangement covers the civic body's headquarters, all eight ward offices and their affiliated tax collection centres, which will function between 10 am and 3 pm. Alongside physical payment facilities, NMMC has also urged taxpayers to utilise its digital payment platforms, including its website, mobile application, WhatsApp chatbot, QR code-enabled payments and UPI services, to ensure timely tax compliance and avoid additional financial liability.

Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has announced that all its property tax collection centres will remain open on weekends and public holidays until June 30, 2026, to facilitate timely payment of property tax for the 2026–27 financial year. The civic body said the special arrangement has been introduced to help residents complete tax payments before a 2% late payment charge is imposed on outstanding dues from July 1.
Under the initiative, NMMC's headquarters, all eight ward offices and their affiliated tax collection centres across the city will operate from 10 am to 3 pm on public holidays as well as Saturdays and Sundays. The corporation said the extended schedule is intended to improve access to tax payment services, particularly for salaried individuals and other citizens who may find it difficult to visit collection centres during regular working days.
The decision assumes significance as the civic body will observe consecutive holidays on June 26 for Muharram, followed by the weekend on June 27 and June 28. Despite these holidays, all designated property tax collection centres will continue to remain operational during the notified hours to ensure uninterrupted services for taxpayers.
Apart from over-the-counter payments at tax collection centres, NMMC has also made multiple digital payment channels available for property owners. Citizens can pay their property tax through the corporation's official website, the 'My NMMC – Majhi Navi Mumbai' mobile application, the dedicated WhatsApp chatbot on 8291920504, QR codes printed on property tax bills and various UPI applications.
The civic body added that several other digital payment options, including debit cards, credit cards, net banking, RTGS and NEFT, are also available, enabling residents to complete transactions remotely without visiting municipal offices.
NMMC has urged property owners to make use of both the extended physical collection facility and the available online payment platforms before the June 30 deadline. The corporation stated that timely payment of property tax is an important civic responsibility that contributes towards funding municipal infrastructure and public service delivery across Navi Mumbai.
The appeal was issued on behalf of Municipal Commissioner Dr Kailas Shinde, who urged citizens to avoid the additional financial burden arising from the 2% late payment charge by clearing outstanding property tax dues before the deadline. The civic body reiterated that the extended operating hours have been introduced solely to provide greater convenience to residents and encourage timely tax compliance.
