The Telangana Fire Services Department has initiated legal proceedings against Sky100 Kitchen and Bar in Madhapur and Venkateshwara Coliving & PG Hostel in Kondapur after inspections revealed violations of mandatory fire safety regulations.
According to fire department officials, both establishments were found operating without complying with essential fire safety requirements prescribed under the Fire Services Act. During inspections, authorities noted the absence of mandatory firefighting equipment and other critical safety measures required to respond effectively in the event of a fire.
District Fire Officer-I, Rangareddy, Khaja Kareemulla, said the violations identified during inspections posed serious safety concerns for occupants and visitors. Following the findings, notices were issued and legal action was initiated against both establishments. The managements have also been directed to immediately rectify the shortcomings and implement the required fire safety measures.
The inspections formed part of the Telangana Fire Services Department's ongoing enforcement drive aimed at improving compliance across commercial establishments, restaurants, bars, hostels, co-living facilities and other buildings with high occupant density. Officials have been carrying out regular checks to verify whether properties have installed firefighting systems, maintained emergency exits and followed evacuation and safety protocols.
The latest action comes as fire safety compliance remains under increased focus across Hyderabad. In recent months, authorities have intensified inspections following a series of fire-related incidents and concerns over safety preparedness in commercial and residential buildings. The department has also taken action against several establishments found violating prescribed fire safety norms.
Officials stated that the absence of firefighting infrastructure can significantly increase risks during emergencies, particularly in properties that accommodate large numbers of people. Restaurants, bars, paying guest accommodations and co-living facilities are required to maintain specific safety standards, including fire extinguishers, emergency response systems and evacuation arrangements.
Director General of Fire Services Vikram Singh Mann has previously stressed the importance of strict compliance with fire safety regulations and said regular inspections are being conducted to improve preparedness and reduce fire-related risks. The department has also been undertaking awareness initiatives to encourage property owners and operators to follow safety guidelines.
As Hyderabad continues to witness growth in commercial activity and shared accommodation facilities, fire safety compliance has become an important area of focus for regulators. Authorities have indicated that inspections will continue across the city and that establishments found violating safety norms could face legal and regulatory action.
