During the visit, he was received by Andhra Pradesh Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development Ponguru Narayana along with officials of the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA).
A review meeting was held at the APCRDA headquarters in Amaravati-Rayapudi, where senior officials from multiple departments briefed the Union Minister on the progress of various development initiatives. Among those present were Swachh Andhra Corporation Chairman Kommareddy Pattabhiram, Municipal Administration Principal Secretary S. As part of the field inspection, Sahu visited the Gravity Canal, the N-16 Trunk Road, the Head of Department (HOD) Towers being developed within the Amaravati Government Complex and LPS Zone-7, where returnable plots for farmers are being developed. Officials briefed him on the planning and execution of these projects and outlined the broader vision for building Amaravati as a modern capital city.
The minister also reviewed the progress of government buildings, arterial road networks and other major infrastructure works currently under construction. Detailed updates were provided on project execution, timelines and development milestones achieved so far.
At the APCRDA project office, Sahu inspected the Amaravati Digital Twin model, a technology-driven platform designed to support urban planning and governance. Officials explained the city's master plan, integrated infrastructure framework and smart governance systems that are being developed using digital technologies. APCRDA also made a detailed presentation on the Amaravati Master Plan, its development strategy and the implementation process being followed.
Officials highlighted the progress of trunk infrastructure works, sustainable urban development initiatives and the creation of citizen-centric public facilities across the capital region. Presentations were also made on housing projects being implemented by the Andhra Pradesh Township and Infrastructure Development Corporation (APTIDCO), livelihood programmes undertaken through the Mission for Elimination of Poverty in Municipal Areas (MEPMA), the deployment of electric buses and projects being supported under the Urban Challenge Fund.
During the discussions, Ponguru Narayana thanked the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs and the Central Government for their support towards Amaravati's development and other urban development initiatives across Andhra Pradesh. He also briefed the Union Minister on the Swarnandhra-Swachchha Andhra programme being implemented across the state under the leadership of Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu.
Sahu appreciated the development vision being pursued for Amaravati and acknowledged the efforts being made to build a sustainable capital city equipped with modern infrastructure and public facilities. He noted that several key infrastructure projects were progressing at a rapid pace through coordination between the Centre and the state government.
Amaravati has regained momentum over the past year with the Andhra Pradesh government accelerating work on long-pending infrastructure projects, government complexes, transport networks and public facilities. The state has also been focusing on completing trunk infrastructure and fulfilling commitments made to farmers who contributed land under the land pooling scheme.
