Synopsis

The Himachal Pradesh government has inaugurated a 33/11 kV power substation at Patlander in the Sujanpur Legislative Assembly Constituency of Hamirpur district, developed at a cost of INR 7.54 crore. Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu virtually inaugurated the facility in the past week, stating that it has been supported by a 7.2-km 33 kV HTSC transmission line connecting Chabutra and Ansla. The project is expected to provide a more reliable electricity supply to around 14,000 residents across 16 Gram Panchayats, including Patlander, Rangar and Chauri. The government said the infrastructure will address rising electricity demand while reducing transmission losses through shorter power lines and interconnected feeders.

The Himachal Pradesh government has commissioned a new 33/11 kV power substation at Patlander in the Sujanpur Legislative Assembly Constituency of Hamirpur district, with Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu virtually inaugurating the facility in the past week. Built at a cost of INR 7.54 crore, the project is intended to strengthen electricity distribution and improve power reliability across the region.
According to the state government, the project includes the construction of a 7.2-km 33 kV High Temperature Super Conductor (HTSC) transmission line connecting Chabutra and Ansla. The transmission infrastructure has been developed to provide the newly commissioned substation with a stable and dependable electricity supply.
The Chief Minister said the substation would improve the quality and continuity of power supply for approximately 14,000 residents living across 16 Gram Panchayats. The areas expected to benefit include Patlander, Rangar, Chauri and neighbouring villages within the Sujanpur Assembly constituency.
The government stated that the new electricity infrastructure has been designed to support the area's increasing power requirements over the coming years. With electricity demand continuing to rise, the additional substation capacity is expected to strengthen the local distribution network and improve overall supply reliability.
Sukhu also noted that the project incorporates shorter transmission routes and interconnected feeders, measures that are expected to reduce transmission losses within the network. These improvements are intended to enhance operational efficiency while ensuring a more consistent electricity supply for households and other consumers served by the substation.
The commissioning of the Patlander substation forms part of the state's ongoing efforts to expand and modernise electricity infrastructure across Himachal Pradesh. Strengthening substation capacity and transmission networks is aimed at improving power distribution in rural and semi-urban areas while accommodating future demand growth.
The state government said the infrastructure would help ensure uninterrupted electricity supply to residents across the beneficiary Gram Panchayats and support the long-term stability of the regional power distribution system. The project combines upgraded transmission infrastructure with enhanced substation capacity to improve service delivery and reduce technical losses in the electricity network.
