Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Shri Yogi Adityanath has approved infrastructure projects worth INR 9,668 crore for Prayagraj to strengthen the city's transport network, civic amenities and public infrastructure. The Uttar Pradesh government has approved infrastructure projects worth INR 9,668 crore for Prayagraj, reinforcing its strategy of upgrading urban infrastructure across key cities in the state. Cleared by Chief Minister Shri Yogi Adityanath during a review meeting, the projects are intended to improve transport connectivity, strengthen civic infrastructure and accommodate the city's growing population while supporting future economic development.
The approved works cover a broad range of sectors, including road infrastructure, bridges, flyovers, drainage systems, water supply and urban utilities. Together, these projects are expected to improve traffic movement, reduce congestion and enhance access to residential, commercial and institutional areas. The government views the investment as an important step towards creating infrastructure capable of supporting Prayagraj's expanding urban footprint and increasing economic activity.
The projects are part of a wider development programme for the Prayagraj division, under which infrastructure proposals worth more than INR 16,000 crore have received the Chief Minister's approval. While the INR 9,668 crore allocation is focused specifically on Prayagraj city, the broader regional package also covers neighbouring districts with investments in transport, irrigation, public infrastructure and civic development. The state government has emphasised that coordinated infrastructure planning across the division will strengthen regional connectivity and promote balanced growth.
During the review, the Chief Minister directed officials to ensure that project implementation follows defined timelines while maintaining construction quality and transparency. He stressed the importance of completing projects efficiently so that residents benefit from improved public infrastructure without unnecessary delays. Departments were also asked to strengthen coordination during execution to minimise disruptions and ensure effective utilisation of public funds.
Prayagraj has witnessed significant public infrastructure investment in recent years, particularly ahead of major religious gatherings and urban renewal initiatives. The latest approvals build upon previous efforts to modernise the city's transport network, expand civic amenities and improve essential public services. Improved roads and urban infrastructure are also expected to facilitate movement of people and goods, strengthen commercial activity and support future investments in housing, education and industry.
