Tata Power has unveiled an ambitious growth roadmap, targeting annual revenue of INR 1 lakh crore and net profit of INR 10,000 crore by 2030. Announcing the plans at the company's Annual General Meeting (AGM), Chairman Natarajan Chandrasekaran outlined expansion across renewable energy, power generation, transmission, distribution, manufacturing and customer-centric energy solutions. The company also plans to establish a new 10 GW solar manufacturing facility in Odisha while exploring opportunities in nuclear energy, including small modular reactors (SMRs), as part of its long-term strategy to support India's clean energy transition.
Tata Power has set an ambitious target of achieving annual revenue of INR 1 lakh crore and a net profit of INR 10,000 crore by 2030, signalling a significant expansion of its integrated energy business over the next four years. The roadmap was announced by Chairman Natarajan Chandrasekaran during the company's Annual General Meeting (AGM), where he outlined the company's long-term strategy centred on renewable energy, power generation, transmission, distribution, manufacturing and customer-focused energy solutions.
The company aims to strengthen its position as one of India's leading integrated power utilities by expanding across the entire energy value chain. Chandrasekaran said Tata Power is evolving beyond a conventional electricity utility into an "energy-as-a-service" provider, enabling residential, commercial and industrial consumers to adopt cleaner and more efficient energy solutions. The strategy is expected to be supported by continued investments in renewable power generation, rooftop solar, electric vehicle charging infrastructure, battery storage systems and smart energy services.
The ambitious financial targets represent a substantial increase over the company's current performance. In FY26, Tata Power reported consolidated revenue of INR 63,681 crore and a net profit of INR 5,212 crore, indicating that the company intends to nearly double both its revenue and profitability by the end of the decade. According to Chandrasekaran, the growth will be driven by both organic expansion and the scaling up of emerging clean energy businesses.
A key component of the expansion strategy is the proposed establishment of a new 10 GW solar manufacturing facility in Odisha. The company expects to make a formal announcement regarding the project in the coming months. Tata Power currently operates 4.3 GW of solar cell and module manufacturing capacity at its Tirunelveli facility in Tamil Nadu, while its combined manufacturing capacity, including its Bengaluru operations, stands at approximately 4.9 GW. The proposed Odisha facility is expected to significantly strengthen domestic manufacturing capabilities and contribute to India's goal of building a self-reliant clean energy supply chain.
The company has also reaffirmed its target of expanding its total operational generation portfolio to around 30 GW by 2030, with nearly 20 GW expected to come from renewable energy sources. Alongside generation capacity, Tata Power plans to strengthen its transmission and distribution businesses and continue pursuing opportunities in states considering electricity distribution privatisation, thereby widening its customer base and operational footprint.
Beyond renewable energy, Tata Power is exploring opportunities in the nuclear power sector, particularly through small modular reactors (SMRs), subject to evolving policy and regulatory frameworks. Chandrasekaran said the company remains prepared to participate in the segment as opportunities emerge. Combined with investments in energy storage, domestic manufacturing and grid infrastructure, the proposed nuclear expansion reflects Tata Power's broader strategy of becoming a comprehensive clean energy company while supporting India's long-term decarbonisation and energy security objectives.
