The Himachal Pradesh Housing and Urban Development Authority (HIMUDA) has approved an annual work plan and budget estimate of INR 251 crore for FY27, with allocations aimed at accelerating housing and infrastructure development across the state.
The approvals were granted during the authority's 59th board meeting, chaired by Housing and Town and Country Planning Minister Rajesh Dharmani. The budget includes a provision of INR 52 crore for land acquisition to support future housing schemes and planned urban development projects.
During the meeting, Dharmani directed officials to expedite the implementation of ongoing and proposed projects while maintaining transparency, operational efficiency and citizen-centric service delivery. He also reviewed the progress of housing and infrastructure projects being executed by HIMUDA across Himachal Pradesh and emphasised the need for their timely completion.
The minister stated that strategic land procurement would strengthen the authority's capacity to undertake planned urban development and expand housing initiatives in the coming years.
The board also approved a one-time settlement policy for the HIMUDA Colony at Rakkar Phase IV in Una district. According to the authority, the policy is intended to provide relief to eligible allottees while resolving long-pending issues associated with the housing scheme.
Reviewing the authority's financial performance, officials informed the board that HIMUDA recorded a turnover of INR 200 crore during FY26, exceeding the budget estimate of INR 117 crore approved for the financial year. The performance was attributed to improved operational efficiency and stronger financial management.
To enhance institutional capacity, the board approved amendments to the Contractor Enlistment Rules, aligning them with the procedures followed by the Himachal Pradesh Public Works Department. The revised framework is expected to streamline contractor empanelment and project execution.
In addition, the board approved plans to modernise the HIMUDA head office at Nigam Vihar in Shimla. The proposal aims to provide the office with a contemporary corporate design while improving the working environment and strengthening public service delivery.
The latest approvals form part of HIMUDA's ongoing efforts to expand housing infrastructure, improve institutional efficiency and strengthen its capacity to undertake future urban development projects across Himachal Pradesh.
