Synopsis

The Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) has started the process of acquiring land in Jagatpura to develop a key road link connecting Mahal Road with nearby residential and commercial areas. The proposed project aims to improve traffic movement, enhance connectivity, and support planned urban expansion in the city’s southeastern corridor. Landowners have been issued notices as part of the acquisition process. Once completed, the road is expected to reduce congestion and provide better access to rapidly developing neighbourhoods.

The Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) has initiated land acquisition in Jagatpura for the construction of a new road link connecting Mahal Road with adjoining areas. The project is intended to improve road connectivity in one of Jaipur's fastest-growing residential zones and ease traffic congestion caused by increasing urban development.
According to officials, notices have been issued to landowners whose properties fall within the proposed alignment. The acquisition process is being carried out under the applicable land acquisition provisions, after which compensation will be determined as per government norms. The authority has begun consultations with affected stakeholders to complete the process and avoid delays.
The proposed road will strengthen connectivity between Jagatpura, Mahal Road and surrounding residential colonies, educational institutions and commercial developments. It is expected to provide an alternate route for commuters, reducing pressure on existing roads that experience heavy traffic during peak hours.
JDA officials said the project forms part of the authority's broader urban infrastructure plan aimed at supporting Jaipur's expanding eastern and southeastern corridors. Improved road infrastructure is expected to facilitate smoother movement of people and goods while supporting planned residential and commercial growth in the area.
The acquisition process is likely to be completed in phases, depending on land ownership verification, compensation procedures and statutory approvals. Construction work is expected to commence after possession of the required land is secured.
Urban planners note that timely development of road infrastructure is essential in rapidly expanding localities such as Jagatpura, where residential projects and institutional campuses have significantly increased traffic demand over the past few years. Once completed, the new road link is expected to improve accessibility, reduce travel time and support future urban development in the region.
