The Haryana government has proposed a 35-km metro corridor with 28 stations connecting Sector 56 to Pachgaon to improve connectivity across Gurugram's rapidly expanding residential, commercial and industrial areas. The corridor will feature interchanges with the Rapid Metro, Namo Bharat Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) and a station serving the planned Global City in Sector 36A. The Detailed Project Report (DPR) has been completed and is under review by the state government. Once approved, the project is expected to reduce road congestion, improve public transport accessibility and support Gurugram's long-term urban expansion.
The Haryana government is moving ahead with plans to develop a 35-kilometre metro corridor featuring 28 stations to improve public transport connectivity across Gurugram's rapidly expanding urban landscape. Stretching from Sector 56 to Pachgaon, the proposed corridor is designed to connect key residential, commercial and industrial zones while integrating with existing and upcoming mass transit systems. The Detailed Project Report (DPR) has been completed and is currently under review by the state government before final approval.
The proposed metro line has been planned to address the growing transportation needs of Gurugram, which has witnessed significant urban expansion over the past decade. The corridor will connect several emerging residential sectors, employment hubs and commercial districts, providing an efficient alternative to road-based transport and helping reduce traffic congestion on major arterial roads such as NH-48 and the Southern Peripheral Road.
A key feature of the project is its integration with multiple transit networks. The corridor will include interchange facilities with the existing Rapid Metro network as well as the proposed Namo Bharat Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS). In addition, a dedicated station has been planned for the upcoming Global City in Sector 36A, one of Haryana's flagship mixed-use urban development projects that is expected to become a major commercial and business destination. These multimodal connections are intended to enable seamless travel across the National Capital Region while improving first- and last-mile connectivity.
The metro corridor is expected to improve accessibility to rapidly developing sectors located along the Dwarka Expressway and Delhi-Jaipur Highway. By linking residential neighbourhoods with industrial clusters and commercial centres, the project aims to encourage greater use of public transport while supporting balanced urban growth across Gurugram.
According to officials, the completed DPR provides detailed recommendations on alignment, station locations, engineering design, construction methodology and project costs. The report is currently being examined by the Haryana government before it moves to the next stage of approvals. Once sanctioned, the project will pave the way for detailed engineering, tendering and construction activities.
The proposed corridor forms part of a broader strategy to strengthen Gurugram's metro network in response to increasing population, rapid real estate development and rising commuter demand. Urban planners believe that expanding rail-based public transport infrastructure will be essential for reducing dependence on private vehicles, lowering travel times and improving environmental sustainability.
The metro project is also expected to complement other infrastructure initiatives underway in Gurugram, including the development of Global City, the expansion of the Dwarka Expressway and the implementation of the Namo Bharat corridor. Together, these projects are expected to transform mobility across the region while supporting economic activity and attracting further investment.
Once approved and implemented, the 35-km metro corridor is expected to become one of Gurugram's most significant urban transport projects. By connecting major residential, commercial and industrial destinations through an integrated public transport network, the corridor is expected to improve commuting efficiency, support sustainable urban development and strengthen Gurugram's position as one of India's leading business and residential centres.
