Rajasthan currently has 81 infrastructure projects worth approximately INR 2.72 lakh crore under various stages of implementation, according to a review conducted under the Project Monitoring Group (PMG) framework of the Government of India. The projects span multiple sectors, including transport, energy and urban infrastructure, and are being monitored to facilitate timely execution and resolve implementation challenges.
The status of these projects was reviewed during a high-level meeting chaired by Principal Economic Adviser and PMG Chairman Praveen Mahto. The review was organised by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) in collaboration with the Rajasthan government as part of ongoing efforts to accelerate infrastructure development and improve project delivery across the state.
According to the official statement, the portfolio of projects includes investments across railways, roads and highways, petroleum and natural gas, power transmission, renewable energy and urban infrastructure. Many of the projects are of strategic importance and are expected to support industrial activity, regional connectivity and public infrastructure development across Rajasthan.
The PMG mechanism functions as a central platform for identifying and resolving issues that delay large-scale infrastructure projects. During the review, officials from central ministries, state government departments and project proponents examined pending matters related to approvals, clearances, land issues and inter-agency coordination that could affect project timelines.
The meeting also assessed the progress of individual projects and discussed measures to improve implementation efficiency. Officials emphasised the need for closer coordination among stakeholders to ensure that projects move forward without avoidable delays.
DPIIT stated that regular reviews conducted through the PMG framework have played an important role in improving project monitoring and facilitating quicker resolution of implementation bottlenecks. The mechanism is designed to provide a structured platform where project-related issues can be raised and addressed through coordination between the Centre, state governments and executing agencies.
The review forms part of the government’s broader effort to strengthen infrastructure delivery and support economic development through timely completion of major projects. With 81 projects collectively valued at INR 2.72 lakh crore under active implementation, Rajasthan remains one of the significant infrastructure investment destinations being monitored under the PMG system.
