SOTC Travel has expanded its retail footprint in West Bengal with the opening of a new outlet on B.T Road in Kolkata, taking its total store count in the city to nine. The expansion, announced on June 2, forms part of the company's broader strategy to strengthen its presence across high-potential metropolitan centres as well as tier-I and tier-II markets across India.
The new outlet is located on B.T Road, one of Kolkata’s rapidly developing residential and commercial corridors. According to the company, the location has been selected to serve a diverse customer base comprising families, working professionals, entrepreneurs and younger travellers seeking domestic and international holiday experiences.
SOTC stated that the expansion will help deepen customer engagement in one of eastern India’s key travel markets while improving access to personalised holiday planning and travel services. The company aims to provide end-to-end travel solutions through a combination of physical retail presence and digital engagement platforms.
The travel operator continues to expand its omnichannel model, integrating its network of retail outlets with online channels to provide customers with multiple touchpoints for planning and booking travel. The company serves a broad demographic that includes multigenerational families, couples, senior citizens, millennials and Gen Z travellers.
According to SOTC, travel preferences are becoming increasingly diverse, with customers seeking a combination of traditional, experiential and specialised travel offerings. The company reported sustained demand for spiritual tourism through its Darshans portfolio, which includes the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, Do Dham, Char Dham Yatra and Vaishnodevi Yatra.
At the same time, travellers are showing growing interest in experiential holidays and long-haul destinations. SOTC noted rising demand for luxury cruise holidays, Antarctica expeditions, Northern Lights tours and adventure-based travel experiences. The company is also witnessing encouraging interest in its Exclusive Bengali Durga Puja Special departures under the Biswa Sera Darshan programme, which offers curated domestic and international itineraries tailored for Bengali travellers.
In addition to expanding its retail presence and travel offerings, the company is focusing on traveller protection and risk management services. SOTC recently introduced TravSure, a travel protection initiative designed to address evolving travel-related risks and provide customers with greater confidence during their journeys.
The company also offers additional safeguards such as visa rejection cover, intended to reduce potential financial losses arising from unforeseen travel disruptions. According to SOTC, these measures are aimed at enhancing the overall travel experience while supporting informed travel planning.
The opening of the B.T Road outlet reflects the company’s continued investment in physical retail infrastructure despite growing digital adoption, as it seeks to strengthen customer access and regional connectivity in one of India's major travel markets.
