Synopsis

Pan IIT Alumni India has soft-launched “Pan IIT AI Niti (Pariniti)”, a dedicated artificial intelligence policy think tank aimed at contributing to India’s AI governance, infrastructure and innovation ecosystem. Announced during a gathering at Bombay Gymkhana in Mumbai, the initiative will focus on multiple layers of the AI value chain, including semiconductors, cloud infrastructure, data centres, energy systems, algorithms and AI governance. The think tank will operate through specialised verticals involving IIT alumni, industry executives, policymakers, venture capital professionals and researchers. Praxis Global Alliance has been appointed as the knowledge and think tank partner for the initiative. The platform is expected to generate policy recommendations, research papers and industry inputs for government and institutional stakeholders.

Pan IIT Alumni India has launched a new artificial intelligence-focused policy think tank aimed at strengthening India’s AI ecosystem through research, industry collaboration and policy engagement.
The initiative, titled “Pan IIT AI Niti (Pariniti)”, was soft-launched during a curated event held at Bombay Gymkhana in Mumbai on May 28, attended by IIT alumni, industry executives, startup founders and investment community representatives.
According to the organisation, the think tank has been established to create an independent platform focused on multiple components of India’s evolving artificial intelligence ecosystem. The initiative will cover areas including semiconductors, energy infrastructure, cloud systems, data centres, algorithms, governance frameworks and AI applications.
Prabhat Kumar, Chairman of Pan IIT Alumni India, stated that the initiative is intended to strengthen India’s thought leadership in artificial intelligence by bringing together IIT alumni, researchers, policymakers and industry stakeholders.
The organisation stated that the think tank will function through five to six specialised verticals, each focused on a different segment of the AI value chain. Subject matter experts from the IIT alumni network will serve as core members, while approximately 50 to 60 professionals from sectors including technology, venture capital, academia, governance and startups are expected to be inducted following a screening process.
According to the organisation, the membership base will include CEOs, CXOs, founders of technology startups and unicorns, venture capital partners, senior civil servants and academic professionals working across AI-related fields.
Praxis Global Alliance has been appointed as the think tank and knowledge partner for the initiative. The advisory firm will be responsible for research support, data analysis, discussion frameworks and preparation of white papers, policy briefs and opinion documents generated through the platform.
Pan IIT Alumni India stated that all intellectual property arising from the think tank’s work will remain with the organisation.
The initiative is expected to conduct monthly online meetings involving smaller working groups across various focus areas. Discussions and recommendations generated through these sessions will subsequently be synthesised into policy-oriented inputs intended for government bodies, industry participants and public stakeholders.
Kumar stated that the organisation intends to use the platform to connect technical expertise from IIT alumni networks with practical policy implementation and market-oriented feedback mechanisms.
The launch comes at a time when India is witnessing increasing focus on artificial intelligence infrastructure, including investments in data centres, cloud capacity, semiconductor manufacturing and AI-led digital services. Policy discussions around AI governance, responsible AI deployment, computational infrastructure and domestic innovation ecosystems have also intensified amid growing adoption of AI technologies across sectors.
Pan IIT Alumni India is a registered society representing more than 500,000 IIT alumni globally, with operational presence across India, the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia and Singapore.
Praxis Global Alliance operates as an Indian management advisory firm with offices in New Delhi and the UAE, focusing on strategy, technology implementation and research-led advisory services across sectors including healthcare, financial services, manufacturing and technology.
