Synopsis

• NHAI has prepared a draft alignment for a proposed 31-km elevated corridor that will improve connectivity between Delhi, Noida, Greater Noida and Noida International Airport.
• The eight-lane project is planned along the Yamuna embankment and is expected to function as an alternative route to the existing Noida-Greater Noida Expressway.
• The proposed corridor will include multiple entry and exit connections to serve residential, commercial and institutional sectors along the route.
• Authorities are currently assessing land requirements and refining the alignment before the project moves towards detailed planning and approvals.

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has advanced plans for a new elevated road corridor in the National Capital Region, proposing a 31-km, eight-lane route that will strengthen connectivity between Noida and the rapidly developing airport zone at Jewar. The project is intended to create an additional high-capacity transport corridor as passenger and vehicular traffic linked to Noida International Airport continues to grow.
According to the draft alignment prepared by NHAI, the proposed elevated roadway will originate near Sector 94 in Noida and extend towards Greater Noida, running broadly along the Yamuna river embankment before connecting with the airport-bound road network. The corridor is being planned as a parallel route to the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway, which currently serves as the primary access road for traffic travelling between Delhi, Noida, Greater Noida and the airport region.
The project is expected to play a significant role in reducing pressure on existing road infrastructure. With residential expansion, commercial development and industrial activity increasing across Noida, Greater Noida and the Yamuna Expressway region, authorities anticipate a substantial rise in traffic demand over the coming years. The proposed corridor is therefore being designed to provide an alternative movement channel while improving overall network resilience.
Officials from NHAI recently shared the draft alignment with regional development authorities and government departments for review. Discussions focused on route feasibility, integration with existing infrastructure, utility corridors and land requirements. The exercise is expected to help finalise the alignment before preparation of the Detailed Project Report (DPR).
A notable feature of the proposed corridor is its planned integration with adjoining urban sectors. Multiple access points are being considered to ensure that the elevated road serves not only airport-bound traffic but also commuters travelling between key residential, institutional and commercial areas. The objective is to create a corridor that supports both regional mobility and local connectivity.
Land assessment activities have commenced along the proposed route to determine acquisition requirements and identify potential constraints. Since a substantial portion of the corridor is expected to follow the Yamuna embankment alignment, authorities are also evaluating technical and environmental considerations associated with the project.
The proposed road forms part of a broader infrastructure strategy being implemented around Noida International Airport. Several highway, rail and urban development projects are currently underway or in planning stages to support the airport's long-term growth and improve connectivity across western Uttar Pradesh and the National Capital Region.
Once the alignment receives the necessary approvals and the DPR is finalised, the project will move towards detailed engineering and implementation planning. The corridor is expected to emerge as a key component of the transport network linking Delhi, Noida, Greater Noida and the airport-driven growth corridor developing around Jewar.
