Dubai’s newly established Dubai Longevity Authority is expected to strengthen the emirate’s position as a global centre for longevity, wellness and advanced healthcare, while creating new opportunities for investment and urban development. Luxury developer Keturah has welcomed the initiative, stating that it provides a framework for developers to align residential projects with evolving wellness and quality-of-life standards. The company, which is developing two luxury residential communities in Dubai, said the authority reflects a broader shift towards integrating health, wellbeing and sustainability into urban planning. The development comes as cities worldwide increasingly explore how residential environments can support healthier and longer lives through design, infrastructure and community planning.
The establishment of the Dubai Longevity Authority marks a significant step in the emirate’s efforts to position itself as a global hub for longevity, wellness and advanced healthcare, with implications extending beyond the healthcare sector into residential development and urban planning.
The newly formed authority has been tasked with developing Dubai as a leading destination for regulated longevity services, wellness initiatives and advanced healthcare solutions, while also facilitating investment into the sector. Industry stakeholders believe the initiative could influence future standards for residential and mixed-use developments across the emirate.
Luxury developer Keturah has welcomed the creation of the authority, stating that it reflects Dubai’s long-term approach to designing cities around quality of life and human wellbeing. Talal M. Al Gaddah, Chief Executive Officer and Founder of the Keturah luxury brand, said the establishment of a dedicated government body focused on longevity and wellness demonstrates an institutional commitment that extends beyond traditional healthcare planning.
According to Al Gaddah, the initiative creates a framework that developers can align with as they design and deliver residential communities. He noted that residents increasingly expect homes and neighbourhoods that support healthier lifestyles and provide environments that contribute positively to wellbeing.
Keturah currently has two luxury residential projects under development in Dubai that place wellness and healthy living at the centre of their design and operational philosophy.
One of these developments is The Ritz-Carlton Residences at Keturah Resort, located on the shores of Dubai Creek adjacent to the Ras Al Khor Wildlife Sanctuary. The project is being developed as the Middle East’s first fully wellness-certified resort and will comprise creek-side mansions, residential apartments, a Ritz-Carlton boutique hotel and a dedicated wellness centre.
The resort has received certification from Delos, a United States-based wellness real estate and technology company, as well as the International WELL Building Institute, organisations recognised for promoting health-focused building standards.
Keturah is also developing Keturah Reserve, a AED 5.7 billion bio-living community in District 7 of Mohammed Bin Rashid City. According to the developer, the project is designed to integrate wellness science into residential architecture and construction practices on a large scale.
The company stated that approximately AED 200 million has been invested in specialised building materials and technologies, including antimicrobial tiling systems, breathable wall structures and zero-volatile organic compound finishes. These features are intended to improve indoor environmental quality through humidity regulation, bacterial control and the reduction of airborne pollutants.
Al Gaddah stated that developers have a responsibility to ensure that the objectives represented by the Dubai Longevity Authority are reflected in project planning, material selection, construction standards and community design. He added that the initiative provides an opportunity for the real estate sector to contribute to the creation of healthier and more sustainable living environments.
The authority’s establishment reflects a growing global trend in which governments, healthcare organisations and developers are increasingly incorporating wellness, preventative healthcare and longevity principles into urban development strategies. As demand for health-focused residential environments continues to rise, industry participants expect wellness-led development models to become an increasingly important component of future real estate projects.
