The Telangana government is set to inaugurate ‘Donald Trump Avenue’, a road adjoining the United States Consulate in Hyderabad, on June 23 as part of a broader initiative to recognise global personalities and institutions associated with the city’s economic and technological growth. The road naming proposal was first announced last year and forms part of a wider urban branding exercise that also includes roads named after prominent business leaders and technology companies. The inauguration is expected to be attended by senior state government officials and diplomatic representatives.
The Telangana government will inaugurate ‘Donald Trump Avenue’, a road located alongside the United States Consulate in Hyderabad’s Financial District, on June 23, marking the implementation of a proposal that was first announced by the state administration last year.
According to information reported across multiple media sources, the road has been named after US President Donald Trump and will be formally unveiled during a diplomatic event expected to be attended by senior state government representatives and officials associated with the US mission in India.
The decision is part of a broader initiative by the Telangana government to name prominent roads after globally recognised personalities and organisations. The state had earlier announced plans to honour late industrialist Ratan Tata through the naming of a greenfield radial road connected to the proposed Regional Ring Road. It had also proposed road names recognising major technology companies, including Google, as part of efforts to highlight Hyderabad’s emergence as a global technology and innovation hub.
Government officials have indicated that the road naming programme is intended to reflect Hyderabad’s growing international profile and its strong economic ties with global businesses and investors. The city has witnessed significant investment from multinational corporations, particularly in the technology, financial services and Global Capability Centre (GCC) segments, with several American companies establishing or expanding operations in Hyderabad in recent years.
The proposal to name the road after Donald Trump was first announced ahead of the Telangana Rising Global Summit. Officials had then stated that the initiative was aimed at drawing international attention to Telangana’s investment ambitions and strengthening the state’s global outreach efforts.
The road runs adjacent to the US Consulate General and is located within one of Hyderabad’s key commercial and technology districts. The inauguration on June 23 will formally operationalise the renaming and add the avenue to the city’s growing list of roads named after internationally recognised figures and institutions.
The move has generated public discussion and political reactions since its announcement, but the state government has maintained that the initiative is part of its wider strategy to position Telangana as a destination for innovation-led development, international investment and global business engagement.
