Delhivery has launched a nationwide network of more than 1,000 dedicated rest facilities, branded as ‘Vishram’, for delivery associates across nearly 600 cities and towns in India. The initiative is aimed at improving the welfare of gig workers and delivery personnel by providing access to essential amenities such as seating areas, drinking water, washrooms, charging points and first-aid facilities. Open to delivery workers across platforms and sectors, the programme seeks to address the lack of roadside infrastructure available to delivery personnel while establishing a broader benchmark for workforce welfare within India’s rapidly growing logistics, e-commerce and quick-commerce industries.
Logistics and supply chain company Delhivery has announced the launch of a nationwide network of more than 1,000 dedicated rest facilities for delivery associates, covering nearly 600 cities and towns across India. The initiative, named ‘Vishram’, has been introduced as part of the company’s efforts to improve working conditions and welfare support for delivery personnel operating across multiple sectors.
The facilities are open not only to Delhivery’s delivery workforce but also to personnel working across e-commerce, quick-commerce, food delivery and traditional courier platforms. The network spans major urban centres and emerging markets, including Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Pune, Ahmedabad, Jaipur and Lucknow, among others.
According to the company, each Vishram centre has been designed to provide delivery workers with access to basic amenities such as seating and rest areas, clean drinking water, washrooms, mobile charging stations, cooling facilities including fans and air coolers, and first-aid support. The facilities are intended to offer safe spaces for short breaks during demanding shifts and provide shelter during adverse weather conditions, including extreme heat and heavy rainfall.
Prashant Gazipur, Chief Operating Officer – Operations at Delhivery, said delivery associates form the backbone of India’s digital commerce ecosystem and often work under challenging conditions. He noted that the Vishram initiative aims to address the longstanding shortage of accessible roadside infrastructure available to delivery personnel and provide them with a more comfortable and dignified working environment.
To facilitate ease of use, Delhivery has introduced a digital check-in and check-out system. Delivery workers can access the facilities by scanning a QR code and verifying their mobile number, enabling a paperless process while supporting operational efficiency and hygiene standards.
The company stated that opening the facilities to delivery personnel irrespective of their employer or platform reflects an industry-wide approach towards worker welfare. Delhivery said it hopes the initiative will encourage broader collaboration across the logistics and delivery ecosystem to improve working conditions for gig workers nationwide.
The launch comes at a time when India’s gig economy continues to expand rapidly, increasing the need for support infrastructure and welfare-focused initiatives for delivery personnel who play a critical role in enabling digital commerce and last-mile logistics across the country.
