Commercial establishments across Indore are facing stricter regulatory scrutiny as the district administration continues its enforcement drive against fire safety violations. In the latest action, authorities sealed eight commercial establishments after inspections revealed significant shortcomings in mandatory fire safety measures.
The action was carried out by district administration officials and civic authorities following inspections of commercial properties across different parts of the city. According to officials, the establishments failed to comply with prescribed fire safety requirements despite repeated directions and sufficient time being provided for corrective action.
During inspections, authorities found that several buildings lacked adequate fire-fighting infrastructure, while others had installed equipment that was either non-functional, poorly maintained or did not meet required standards. Officials also identified violations related to building usage and safety compliance in some of the inspected properties.
The sealed establishments were operating in areas that witness regular public movement and commercial activity. Authorities stated that ensuring fire safety compliance in such properties is essential to protect occupants, employees and visitors in the event of an emergency.
The latest enforcement follows a wider fire safety compliance campaign launched by the Indore administration over the past few months. Earlier inspections conducted across commercial buildings, shopping complexes, business centres and other high-footfall properties had revealed widespread violations of fire safety norms.
