Synopsis

The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has announced a 10 per cent rebate on property tax payments for the financial year 2026-27 for taxpayers who clear their dues on or before June 30. The concession applies to properties within the NDMC jurisdiction and is aimed at encouraging early tax compliance and improving revenue collection. Property owners can avail themselves of the rebate through the council’s online property tax portal and other authorised payment channels. The incentive continues a policy adopted by the civic body in recent years to promote timely payments and strengthen municipal finances. The announcement comes amid ongoing changes to the property tax framework in the NDMC area, including efforts to introduce a more uniform assessment mechanism.

The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has announced a 10 per cent rebate on property tax payments for the financial year 2026-27 for taxpayers who settle their dues on or before June 30, providing an incentive for early compliance among property owners within its jurisdiction.
The civic body issued the announcement on Friday and urged taxpayers to utilise the rebate by making payments through its online portal or other authorised payment modes before the stipulated deadline. The initiative is intended to encourage prompt tax payments and improve revenue collection efficiency.
According to NDMC, the rebate scheme forms part of its annual property tax collection drive and has been implemented in previous years as a measure to promote timely payment of municipal dues. The council stated that property owners should avoid delaying payments until the final days of the rebate period and complete the process well before the deadline.
The concession applies to property tax liabilities for FY27 and is available to all eligible taxpayers within the NDMC area who make payments by June 30. Property owners can access tax details and complete payments through the council’s online property tax system, which allows users to view dues, submit returns and make digital payments.
The rebate announcement comes at a time when the property tax framework within the NDMC area is undergoing changes. Recent legislative amendments have paved the way for the adoption of a uniform Unit Area Method for property tax assessment across the council’s jurisdiction. The revised system is expected to replace the rateable value-based approach for remaining properties and bring greater consistency to tax calculations.
NDMC officials stated that the rebate initiative is designed to encourage voluntary compliance while ensuring a steady flow of revenue for civic services and infrastructure maintenance. Similar concessions were offered by the council in previous years for taxpayers making payments before the June-end deadline.
The New Delhi Municipal Council administers one of the capital’s most prominent urban districts, covering government offices, diplomatic enclaves, commercial centres and residential neighbourhoods. Revenue generated through property tax contributes to the provision of municipal services, maintenance of public infrastructure and civic administration within the NDMC area.
Taxpayers seeking additional information regarding assessment, payment procedures or eligibility criteria have been advised to contact the NDMC Tax Department or access the council’s online services platform.
