Hospitality companies IHG Hotels & Resorts and Indian Hotels Company Ltd (IHCL) have expanded their presence in India with the launch of new properties in Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra. IHG has opened a 90-key Holiday Inn Express & Suites in Vijayawada, strengthening its footprint in one of Andhra Pradesh’s growing commercial and connectivity centres. The hotel is positioned to cater to both business and leisure travellers and benefits from its proximity to Amaravati. Separately, IHCL has launched Bandra House Mumbai under its SeleQtions brand. The 39-key property has been designed to reflect Bandra’s cultural and architectural character, adding a boutique offering to the company’s portfolio in Mumbai. Both announcements highlight continued investment by hotel operators in key urban and business destinations across India.
IHG Hotels & Resorts and Indian Hotels Company Ltd (IHCL) announced the opening of new hospitality properties in Vijayawada and Mumbai, respectively, as they continue to expand their presence across key Indian markets. The announcements were made on Friday and involve the launch of a 90-key hotel in Andhra Pradesh and a 39-key property in Maharashtra.
IHG Hotels & Resorts has opened the 90-key Holiday Inn Express & Suites in Vijayawada, marking the brand’s entry into one of Andhra Pradesh’s important commercial and transport hubs. The property has been developed to serve the growing demand from business and leisure travellers visiting the city.
According to the company, the hotel benefits from a strategic location within Vijayawada and is situated close to Amaravati, the state’s planned capital region. The location is expected to support demand from corporate travellers, government-related movement and visitors travelling within the broader Andhra Pradesh region.
Maruthi Raj Narayana, General Manager of Holiday Inn Express & Suites, Vijayawada, stated that Vijayawada continues to emerge as a significant commercial, cultural and connectivity hub for Andhra Pradesh. He noted that the hotel’s central location and proximity to Amaravati position it to cater to the evolving requirements of both business and leisure guests.
Separately, Indian Hotels Company Ltd announced the opening of Bandra House Mumbai under its SeleQtions brand. The newly launched property comprises 39 keys and adds to IHCL’s growing portfolio of boutique and experiential hotels across India.
Located in Bandra, one of Mumbai’s established residential and cultural districts, the hotel has been designed to draw inspiration from the neighbourhood’s distinctive character. The property seeks to incorporate elements of the area’s art, culture and heritage into its design and guest experience.
Deepika Rao, Executive Vice President – New Businesses and Hotel Openings at IHCL, stated that Bandra House Mumbai under the SeleQtions brand reflects the identity of the locality through carefully curated spaces. She added that the hotel has been developed to address the requirements of the micro market while offering a differentiated hospitality experience.
The two openings come amid continued expansion by hotel operators across major urban centres and emerging business destinations in India. Companies in the hospitality sector have increasingly focused on strengthening their presence in cities that benefit from growing commercial activity, infrastructure development and rising domestic travel demand.
With the addition of the Holiday Inn Express & Suites in Vijayawada and Bandra House Mumbai under SeleQtions, both IHG and IHCL have further expanded their portfolios in strategically important markets.
