Synopsis

The Madhya Pradesh government has approved a new logistics park in Indore district with an estimated investment exceeding INR 600 crore, strengthening the state's push to expand freight and supply chain infrastructure. The project will be developed at Machal village after the Madhya Pradesh Industrial Development Corporation (MPIDC) allotted around 23 hectares of land to a private developer. Strategically located near the Indore-Ahmedabad National Highway and linked to the Pithampur industrial region, the facility is expected to improve cargo movement, warehousing efficiency and supply chain connectivity for manufacturing and industrial clusters in western Madhya Pradesh. The development comes amid broader investments in logistics and industrial infrastructure across the Indore-Pithampur belt, which is emerging as one of central India's key manufacturing and distribution hubs.

The Madhya Pradesh government has approved a logistics park project with an expected investment of more than INR 600 crore in Indore district, with the development aimed at strengthening freight movement, warehousing capacity and supply chain infrastructure in the state. The approval was granted in the past week after the Madhya Pradesh Industrial Development Corporation (MPIDC) allotted approximately 23 hectares of land in Machal village to a private company for the project.
According to officials, the logistics park will serve as a key infrastructure asset for goods transportation and supply chain management in western Madhya Pradesh. The proposed facility will benefit from direct connectivity to the Indore-Ahmedabad National Highway and will also be linked to the Pithampur industrial area, one of the country's prominent manufacturing clusters. The connectivity is expected to facilitate faster movement of cargo and improve access between industrial production centres and distribution networks.
The project is being developed at a time when the Indore-Pithampur region is witnessing significant investments in logistics, industrial and transport infrastructure. The area already hosts major manufacturing operations across sectors including automotive, engineering, pharmaceuticals and consumer goods, creating increasing demand for modern logistics facilities and integrated supply chain solutions.
Himanshu Prajapati, Executive Director of MPIDC's Indore unit, stated that the implementation of the project would further strengthen Indore's position as a major logistics hub in the country. He indicated that the facility would support industrial growth by improving transportation efficiency and enhancing logistics capabilities across the region.
Reports indicate that the project is being developed by Blackstone-backed XSIO Logistics Parks, which plans to establish an integrated logistics hub capable of serving industries located in Pithampur Sector-7, the Mohana industrial area and neighbouring manufacturing clusters. The development is expected to generate more than 4,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities during construction and operations.
The logistics park is also expected to complement other infrastructure projects under development in the region, including the INR 1,110 crore Multi Modal Logistics Park (MMLP) at Pithampur and existing container handling facilities. Together, these projects are expected to create a more integrated logistics ecosystem, reduce transportation costs and improve supply chain efficiency for industries operating across central India.
With industrial expansion continuing across the Indore-Pithampur corridor, the new logistics park is expected to add significant warehousing and freight-handling capacity while reinforcing the region's role as a strategic logistics and manufacturing destination. The investment also reflects growing private sector interest in logistics infrastructure as companies seek to optimise supply chains and improve access to domestic and export markets.
