Marriott International has reached a significant global milestone with the opening of its 10,000th property, the 127-key JW Marriott Ranthambore Resort & Spa in Rajasthan. The launch marks a major expansion benchmark for the hospitality company, which now operates across 146 countries and territories worldwide. The new luxury resort also strengthens Marriott's presence in India's growing leisure and wildlife tourism market. The achievement comes nearly a century after the company began operations as a small root beer stand and reflects the scale of its global growth across multiple hospitality segments. Marriott stated that the milestone was made possible through the continued support of property owners and the efforts of its global workforce.
Marriott International has announced the opening of its 10,000th property worldwide, marking a significant milestone in the company's nearly century-long history. The landmark property is the 127-key JW Marriott Ranthambore Resort & Spa in Rajasthan, further expanding the hospitality group's luxury portfolio in India.
The announcement was made in the past week as Marriott celebrated its growth from a small business founded 99 years ago into one of the world's largest hospitality companies. The opening of the Ranthambore resort represents a notable addition to the company's global network, which now spans 146 countries and territories.
Located near the Ranthambore National Park, one of India's most prominent wildlife tourism destinations, the resort is expected to cater to domestic and international travellers seeking luxury hospitality experiences in a nature-focused setting. The development also reflects continued investment in India's premium hospitality sector, where branded hotel operators are expanding their presence across leisure, heritage and wildlife destinations.
Marriott International President and Chief Executive Officer Anthony Capuano stated that the company was founded as a nine-seat root beer stand and has evolved into a global hospitality portfolio comprising 10,000 properties. He said the milestone reflected the contributions of Marriott's teams worldwide and the confidence placed in the company by property owners and development partners over the years.
The opening also strengthens the footprint of the JW Marriott brand, Marriott International's luxury hospitality offering. According to the company, the JW Marriott portfolio now includes more than 130 properties across global markets, serving both business and leisure travellers.
India has emerged as an important growth market for international hotel operators amid rising domestic travel, increasing inbound tourism and expanding demand for premium accommodation. Rajasthan, in particular, has attracted significant hospitality investment due to its strong tourism appeal, cultural heritage assets and wildlife destinations.
The launch of the JW Marriott Ranthambore Resort & Spa adds to the growing inventory of branded luxury hotels in the state and highlights the continued interest of global operators in destination-led hospitality developments. The resort's opening also aligns with broader trends in the hospitality industry, where experiential travel and nature-based tourism continue to drive demand for high-end accommodation offerings.
With the addition of its 10,000th property, Marriott has further expanded its global presence while reinforcing India's role within its international growth strategy. The milestone underscores the scale of the company's operations and the continued expansion of its luxury and resort portfolio across key travel destinations worldwide.
