The development is expected to strengthen Rishikesh’s hospitality landscape, which has been witnessing increasing demand from leisure, wellness and experiential travellers.
Thailand-based hotel and property development company Dusit International has entered into an agreement with luxury real estate and hospitality development firm Atmosphere to develop the Dusit Princess Rishikesh in Uttarakhand.
According to a company statement issued this week, the upper-midscale hotel will feature 300 rooms and is scheduled to open in 2031. The project will add to the growing hospitality infrastructure in Rishikesh, a destination that has steadily gained prominence among domestic and international tourists for its spiritual, wellness and adventure tourism offerings.
Commenting on the expansion, Dusit International Vice President – Development (Global), Siradej Donavanik, said that India remains a strategic growth market for the company and offers significant long-term opportunities across both major urban centres and emerging leisure destinations. He noted that the company would continue focusing on locations that are expected to benefit from rising demand for leisure, wellness and experience-led travel, supported by strong market fundamentals and sustainable growth prospects.
The latest signing forms part of Dusit International’s broader expansion strategy in India, where global hospitality operators have been increasing their presence amid growing tourism activity, improving connectivity and rising demand for branded accommodation across key leisure and pilgrimage destinations.
Dusit International currently operates a portfolio of nearly 300 hotels, resorts and luxury villas under nine brands across 18 countries. The company has been expanding its footprint across Asia and other international markets through a mix of hotel management agreements and strategic partnerships.
Atmosphere Chairman and Managing Director Sanchit Jain said the company was pleased to collaborate with Dusit International on the hospitality project in Rishikesh. He stated that Dusit’s international hospitality expertise and wellness-focused approach are expected to position the property as a notable destination for travellers seeking high-quality and immersive stay experiences in Uttarakhand.
The project comes at a time when Rishikesh is witnessing growing interest from hospitality developers and investors, supported by increasing visitor arrivals and the destination’s reputation as a hub for wellness tourism, yoga retreats and nature-based travel experiences.
