Synopsis

Marriott International has entered into a multi-property agreement with CG Hospitality Global to develop three luxury hotels across India and Nepal, strengthening its expansion strategy in South Asia. The partnership will add nearly 450 rooms to Marriott’s regional portfolio by 2031 through the development of The Ritz-Carlton Kathmandu, The Westin Kathmandu and JW Marriott Hotel Siliguri in West Bengal. The projects are aimed at tapping growing demand in key hospitality markets across the region. CG Hospitality Global, part of CG Group Global, brings extensive regional expertise and operates a portfolio of more than 220 hotels and resorts across 12 countries. The agreement reflects continued investment activity in South Asia’s premium hospitality segment.

Marriott International has signed a partnership agreement with CG Hospitality Global to develop three luxury hotels across India and Nepal, expanding its footprint in South Asia through nearly 450 additional rooms expected to be operational by 2031. The agreement, announced on June 8, covers projects in Kathmandu and Siliguri and forms part of Marriott’s broader regional growth strategy focused on high-potential hospitality markets.
The multi-property deal includes the development of a 150-key The Ritz-Carlton Kathmandu and a 150-key The Westin Kathmandu in Nepal, alongside a 150-key JW Marriott Hotel Siliguri in West Bengal. Collectively, the three properties are expected to contribute around 450 rooms to Marriott International’s South Asia portfolio over the coming years.
The hospitality major stated that the developments would strengthen its presence in key destinations across India and Nepal, where demand for premium and luxury accommodation continues to expand alongside tourism, business travel and urban development.
Commenting on the partnership, Marriott International President for Asia Pacific excluding China, Rajeev Menon, indicated that the company was pleased to deepen its relationship with CG Hospitality Global through a shared commitment to delivering international-standard hospitality experiences in emerging markets. He noted that CG Hospitality’s strong understanding of the regional market and its long-standing presence in Nepal would support the successful execution of the projects and help establish the hotels as significant hospitality destinations within their respective markets.
CG Hospitality Global Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Rahul Chaudhary said the latest signings highlighted the importance both organisations attached to the partnership. He stated that the projects reflected a shared vision between the two groups and expressed appreciation for Marriott’s continued collaboration and confidence in the relationship.
According to Chaudhary, the developments are intended to create destination properties that showcase local culture while contributing to employment generation and broader economic activity. He added that the hotels would be designed to deliver high-quality experiences for travellers as well as benefits for local communities.
The agreement further strengthens collaboration between Marriott International and CG Hospitality Global, which is the hospitality arm of CG Group Global. The company has built a diversified portfolio comprising more than 220 hotels and resorts across 12 countries, spanning multiple hospitality segments and markets.
With luxury and upper-upscale hospitality witnessing continued investor interest across South Asia, the addition of branded properties in Kathmandu and Siliguri is expected to enhance accommodation capacity in these locations while supporting Marriott International’s long-term regional expansion plans through the end of the decade.
