The demand comes amid growing concerns over fire preparedness and compliance with safety norms in densely populated developments. The federation has urged authorities to inspect fire-fighting systems, emergency exits and evacuation mechanisms, while ensuring strict action against violations. Resident groups believe regular audits and stronger monitoring are essential to improving safety standards and reducing risks in the rapidly expanding urban landscape.
The Federation of Noida Residents Welfare Associations (FONRWA) has sought a citywide fire safety audit of hotels, paying guest accommodations (PGs), high-rise residential towers and commercial buildings in Noida, highlighting the need for stronger monitoring of safety standards across the city.
The federation has urged the Noida Authority, fire department and other concerned agencies to conduct detailed inspections of properties to assess compliance with fire safety regulations. According to resident representatives, the exercise should include checks on fire-fighting equipment, emergency exits, evacuation plans, alarm systems, sprinkler networks and other critical safety infrastructure.
The demand comes at a time when fire safety has become a major concern in urban centres, particularly in cities witnessing rapid growth in high-rise residential and commercial developments. FONRWA has stressed that many buildings obtain mandatory approvals during construction, but regular inspections are necessary to ensure that safety systems remain operational and are properly maintained over time.
The federation has also raised concerns about the growing number of PG accommodations and hospitality establishments operating in densely populated areas. Resident groups believe that such properties should undergo periodic verification to ensure adherence to prescribed fire safety norms and occupancy standards. They have sought special attention for buildings with high footfall, where emergency preparedness becomes particularly important.
According to FONRWA, a comprehensive audit would help authorities identify deficiencies in fire safety infrastructure before they result in serious incidents. The federation has further called for corrective measures wherever shortcomings are found and has sought strict enforcement against establishments that fail to comply with safety requirements.
Noida has witnessed significant residential and commercial expansion over the past decade, with a large number of high-rise housing societies, office complexes, mixed-use developments and rental accommodations coming up across sectors. As the city's built environment continues to grow, resident welfare groups have maintained that fire safety mechanisms must evolve at the same pace.
Industry experts have consistently emphasised that fire safety is not limited to obtaining clearances but also involves regular maintenance, periodic audits, staff training and preparedness for emergencies. In several cities across India, authorities have intensified inspections following fire-related incidents, leading to renewed discussions around compliance, accountability and public safety.
FONRWA has stated that a structured and regular audit framework can help strengthen safety standards across Noida while improving awareness among property owners, operators and residents about their responsibilities during emergencies.
